Everyone is invited! We are organising a cinema showcase of Algarve filmmakers, with the support of the Junta de Freguesia de Monchique. MOSTRA DE CINEMA I MONCHIQUE I Realizadores Algarvios
Five short films by Algarve-based filmmakers, two of them shot in Monchique and the rest filmed in other towns across the Algarve, come together for a night of open-air cinema, with the filmmakers themselves present to introduce their work.

🎥 THE FILMMAKERS
🎬 Gonçalo Viana - Desgosto de Morrer no Inverno (2024, 19'02", Monchique). Trained at Universidade Lusófona, with award-winning shorts screened at national and international festivals. Shot in Monchique, this is his most personal and intimate work, a tribute to the town's grandparents and a reflection on tradition, grief, and change.
🎬 Catarina César - AfterLink (2024, 13', Monchique). Screenwriter and producer with a career in film and television productions in the Algarve and internationally. AfterLink is a sci-fi thriller nominated for Best Portuguese Horror Short at MOTELX 2024.
🎬 Frank Kallenberg - Plastic Legacy (2025, 12'26", Algarve). Swiss/German cinematographer and producer based in the Algarve, founder of production company Fat Kat Productions, specialising in visual engineering and motion control.
🎬 Ricardo Greenough-Guerreiro - Última Hora (2023, 12', Algarve). Director, writer, and editor. Última Hora, about a lonely man seeking recognition, has won awards at international festivals including Trame Indipendenti (Pisa) and PLANOS (Tomar), and won Curtas CineFolha in Loulé.
🎬 Ana Medeira - Um Olhar Entre Redes (2022, 59', Armação de Pêra). Filmmaker based in Armação de Pêra, dedicated for nearly two decades to documentaries about the Algarve's heritage and communities. This documentary portrays the region's last beach fishing community, through the testimonies of the fishermen themselves.
