Celebra-se hoje o dia mundial da fotografia. Porquê? Porquê há 184 anos o mundo tomou conhecimento da invenção do processo fotográfico conhecido por Daguerreótipo desenvolvido por Louis Daguerre.
Hoje todos temos à mão a capacidade de produzir imagens, mas será que conseguimos fazer fotografia?
Da série de esculturas de Bruno Catalano "blue tint", uma representação de todos os viajantes que carregam na mala as suas memórias e as suas origens.

Sabia que o edifício da Câmara Municipal do Porto começou a ser construído em 1916, mas só foi inaugurado em 1957?

O projeto inicial foi entregue ao arquiteto Correia da Silva que era funcionário da autarquia.

Em 1950 a direção do projeto passou para a responsabilidade do arquiteto Carlos Ramos.

Mas só em 1957 se deu a inauguração e instalação dos serviços da câmara no edifício que ainda hoje é a casa da cidade e um dos mais emblemáticos do Porto. E quando a luz ajuda f**a ainda mais fotogénico.📸

Did you know that the Porto City Council building began to be built in 1916, but was only inaugurated in 1957?

The initial project was delivered to the architect Correia da Silva, who was an employee of the municipality.

In 1950 the direction of the project passed to the responsibility of the architect Carlos Ramos.

Prado do Repouso Chapel ⛪

Built at the beginning of the XIX century, initially received the designation of Church of S. Victor. However, during the Civil War that opposed Liberals and Miguelists, the Church was burned during the Siege of Porto.

Due to the publication in 1835 of a law prohibiting burials in mass graves or churches, emerged the need to build the first public cemetery in the city (1839). As the ruins of the Church of S. Victor were located in the space destined for the cemetery, the remains of the building were used for the construction of the current chapel.

This neoclassical-inspired work is by Italian architect and set designer Luigi Chiari. With an octagonal floor plan, it has balconies with balustrades and medallions with figures of the apostles garnished by painted palms and olive branches. The dome, which was initially completely covered with paintings by Joaquim Rafael, retains, today, only the central painting and stucco ornaments.

The Prado do Repouso cemetery is part of the ASCE - European Network of Cemeteries with historical, artistic or architectural interest.

Com 14 metros de altura e inaugurado em 1927, o Cristo Rei do Garajau é, de acordo com a Wikipedia, o monumento mais antigo erigido em honra do Sagrado Coração de Jesus. Mais antigo que o Cristo Redentor do Rio de Janeiro (1931) ou o Cristo Rei de Almada (1959).
