My name is Maria, and I am a Portuguese fine art photographer available to work across the world. Welcome, I'm looking forward to meeting you!

My photographic style is a balance between fine-art and documentary photography. I am Maria, a Portuguese fine art photographer available to work across the world. I am spontaneous, naturally kind, joyful and am always on the go between my homes in Lisbon and Marrakesh or travelling elsewhere to photograph. I have been a freelance photographer for six years and I have been dedicated mostly to fine art wedding photography, and largely to destination weddings. Through photography, I can express myself and have a profession where I can put my heart and soul at work. My inspiration comes from the love I feel for life and everything beautiful and genuine. My unique way of capturing light and scene aims to highlight the simplicity and beauty. Welcome, I am looking forward to meeting you! I’ve spent 15 years photographing weddings, preserving memories for so many people. Yet when I look back, I realise I have hardly any photographs of myself from all those years of work.

Inês and I have worked together for over eight years. Yesterday , before heading to an event in Marrakech, she took a moment to make sure we had some photographs of ourselves. Somehow, we had never done that before.

Thank you, Inês, for making sure we’re part of the memories too.

Sometimes we’re so busy capturing other people’s lives that we forget to keep a little piece of our own.

Photography changed when I changed.

There came a point in my life, after more than 15 years behind the camera, when I believed I needed a new camera.

A new technique.

A new editing style.

But the real transformation happened somewhere else.

It happened when I started paying attention to what photography was truly showing me.

Beauty.

Elegance.

Presence.

The energy of a moment.

The way a person inhabits their body and occupies a space.

The truth that exists beyond a pose.

Today, I understand that technique is only a tool.

And nothing more.

Because beauty is not created by a beautiful dress.

Nor by flawless makeup.

Nor by an extraordinary location.

True elegance is guided.

It is intentional.

It lives in gestures.

In stillness.

In awareness.

In the subtle language of the body.

There are silent codes that we recognise without knowing how to explain them.

And those codes are what make an image timeless.

What make a photograph transcend trends.

What elevate the experience of the person looking at it.

Perhaps that is why so many photographers spend years trying to recreate what they admire in others.

But no pose contains a vision.

No preset contains an identity.

No technique contains an artistic voice.

As long as we search outside for what can only be cultivated within, our work will always remain an imitation of someone else’s art.

Because true evolution never happens behind the camera.

It happens within the person holding it.

Perhaps one day I’ll speak more about this.

Many photographers talk about legacy.

But do they really know what it means?

Legacy isn’t just a collection of photographs stored on a hard drive. It isn’t measured by the number of images we leave behind.

True legacy is about preserving stories, emotions, and connections that will still matter when we’re no longer here.

A single photograph with meaning can become priceless to future generations. Thousands of images without context may be forgotten.

So perhaps the real question is:

Are we preserving photographs… or are we preserving memories?

Yesterday, the beautiful and truly elegant Aya appeared before me like one of those rare and silent signs the universe sends when we are finally ready to believe in our own vision again.
I was reminded of Christian Dior and the “New Look” — created after the war not only to reinvent fashion, but to restore to the world the beauty, delicacy, and femininity that had been forgotten.
And perhaps that was exactly what I felt in that moment: a new awareness within myself, and of what I have always deeply loved — beauty, in all of its dimensions.
As if I could finally trust my gaze again, my sensitivity, and the way I see beauty free, elegant, strong, and profoundly wise.
For a long time I felt trapped, but yesterday I understood that true beauty never disappears; it simply waits for the right moment to bloom again.

How can you manifest abundance…
while living in chaos every day? Why do so many people look for manifestation in grand moments, complex rituals, magical techniques… when in reality :

- the way they wake up,
- the way they organize their home,
- the way they speak to themselves,
- the way they eat,
- the way they breathe,
- the way they choose their clothes,
- the way they treat their body,
- the way they receive money,
- the way they respond to people,
- the way they sustain their presence…

“The Art of Presence” is the method I’m developing, a way of living in beauty and manifesting naturally, without magical potions, forced rituals, or performative spirituality.

Because manifestation is not something you “do” once in a while.It’s something you embody every single day.
