Wonderful to see one more of my photos on a National Geographic Your Shot story! This time around under the subject of "Resolutions to Travel", the NatGeo editor looked through a collection of travel memories, having chosen my "Northern Lights Over the Milky Way" panorama, taken in Iceland a few years ago, in the final story.

Invisible for the most part of the day's duration, a dense mesh of spiderwebs covering the forest grounds is highlighted by the sunset soft light.

About 5 years ago, mid-July, the now green'ish area in the bottom right of this photograph burned to the ground in one of the largest fires in the country. You don't have to go far to find scorched land in central Portugal, though. It's October and temperatures were supposed to be cooling down, but highs keep raising over 35º C and drought is widespread, ideal conditions for wild fire.

The alien-like landscape of the Dallol volcano in the Afar region of Ethiopia, where the air is filled with sulphur - which paired with high temperatures, make it tough to bear for long periods of time.

Mursi tribesmen of the Omo Valley in Ethiopia are definitely ones with whom you should not mess around with. But they were cool with us camping right next to their village though.

My night panorama photograph of the Milky Way over Alqueva Dam was featured by Earth Science Picture of the Day few days back!

Image Description: On a night showered by the Persoid meteors, the Milky Way and occasional slow winds made for a far better subject to photograph. The region surrounding the Alqueva artificial lake (Alentejo, Portugal), is worth a visit for those interested in astrophotography, especially considering Europe's light pollution levels.

A stunning view of the Milky Way over Nechisar National Park and Lakes Abaya and Chamo, all resting below Arba Minch's plateau (Ethiopia). Down there, the night is Dark and full of Life, as Nature makes sure to be heard across the forest. Up here, that fence gave us a false sense of safety: the two of us out photographing at that hour were startled by a curious adult porcupine that approached unnanounced, less than an handful of meters away, a stingy situation.
