🌌 Shot number 2/2 of some Milky Way clouds and an absolute s**t tonne of stars.

Was a clear night and the last night of my trip to Lake District so I took a little hike up a peak in Langdale Pikes to get a great spot whilst I waited for it to get dark. Watching it get dark and seeing the sky around you turn in to a sheet of tiny white dots that are light years away, surrounding the faint pattern of our home galaxy is oddly intimidating and frightening, yet surreal and calming at the same time. I could have spent the whole night up there but managed to scramble my way back down in the dark to the car after a successful several hours of shooting. I’ll never stop recommending to anyone that you get yourself somewhere dark and spend an evening star gazing because A) it’s sick af and B) You can’t really get a sense of how small and insignificant we are in comparison to the universe that surrounds us and this planet in many other places. It’s humbling, inspiring, scary, beautiful and the everything else you’d want it to be. Take some layers and snacks, you’ll have a right time.

🌌Been watching the new ‘Universe’ series with on BBC and having my mind continuously scrambled each episode. Love watching Astrophysicists talk about the most complex facts and theories in the most calming manner, whilst I sit there trying not to have a complete meltdown over them.

Anyway here’s 1/2 “far from perfect but not had a bad effort” at some astrophotography I did back at the Lake District in August. Enjoy!

Hi 👋🏻 nice to meet you all finally! I’ve been watching all these new likes come to a page I created ages ago yet never posted to, and wondered - why?! I never posted anything yet here yet you are, & more likes keep coming in.. (and regularly too!) but thank you all so much regardless 🥰

Good news for you is you will actually start seeing some content and hopefully there’ll be a proper reason to have liked this page. Fingers crossed with more posts, we’ll see more people who come by too!

So thanks again, you can see the first post shared from my Instagram below 👇 xx

Hello there, it’s been a fair while since I’ve posted (as always) however this is my first non-travel related post since I got home in 2019.

The last couple of years have been a very weird place for me - I’ve not really managed to find myself sitting comfortably or felt like I really belonged anywhere in particular since being home. Then we all got stuck indoors and couldn’t really see people and that just added to everything, as I’m sure it did for most. I think that lack of understanding left me feeling very unmotivated to even edit any shots I already had left from my year away, let alone go out and take new ones, so naturally I pushed this lovely hobby I enjoy to one side. I didn’t want to keep reliving the travel blues whilst not really knowing where I was going or what I was doing/wanted to do.

However! on a more positive note I’ve feel that I’ve found my feet again. I’ve been living in Bristol city centre since the start of 2021, got a new job and worked on working out how I’d get back into doing what I enjoyed and doing it more. I don’t stress so much about what I’m doing with my life or where it’s heading, and I’m fairly content with where I’m at right now. I recently took a great solo trip to the Lake District, my brother kindly lent me his DSLR so I could practice on more professional equipment whilst I was there and as of now, I’ve got my own new camera and better equipment to edit/store my content on.

It’s been a while coming, but felt the only way id be able to move away from that 2020 negative slump was to get some fresh starts in place - so here I am, starting fresh with some new shots, new equipment and a lot more motivation. I’m really excited to get back into this regularly and build up my photography skills over time to a great place. Hope you enjoy these and there’s more to come! & thanks again to Ed for lending me his DSLR so I could take these shots. (Shots from my own new camera to come in the near future) 📷 📸
