On my last day in Lisbon, I made my way up to a viewpoint that overlooks the eastern part of the city and the Tagus River. As the sunset behind the National Pantheon clouds started to move, casting the city with a beautiful blue tint. Within a few minutes, we were past golden and into the blue hour. The city lights started to dot the streets, one by one, and finally, the lights on the Pantheon turned on. It was such a magical moment to witness and capture.

Walking through the streets of central Madrid if you trek long enough soon you’ll come to the Cathedral de la Almudena. As I walked the grounds I stopped to listen to a violinist playing a beautiful song. Children danced and lovers held each other close. As the sun slowly dipped behind the horizon I made my way to the vantage point and waited patiently for the street lights to turn on. Casting a magical glow, across the stone work and cobble stone side walks, I captured this image of the cathedral. You can feel the magic and sense the scale as the blue light fades into night.

2024 is your year if you have been waiting to see the northern lights! With predictions of very high solar activity the lights will hopefully be visible in places not normally viable to the naked eye! Maybe this winter will be the year I finally photograph them in Acadia! The above photo is a composite and my artistic interpretation of what I imagine it could look like at the beach in Acadia.

Walking through the bamboo groves through Kyoto brought me so much peace. I can’t wait to get back in April for the cherry blossoms.

Autumn is not over for me yet! I’ve always wanted to photograph the North Conway railway as it passes through the white mountains and this season I finally got the opportunity! The colors were just incredible in this one spot far up the tracks.

I can’t believe I’ve been sitting on this photo for over a year now! Last year friends and I traveled through Japan in what has become one of my fondest memories. On this evening we had hiked over to one of the more famous temples in Kyoto. Problem was being it was the busiest season of the year there was thousands of people. As we walked down the path eventually the crowd thinned out and I was able to set up the tripod. I knew I wanted to frame the temple and these beautiful japanese maple trees helped me do that just perfectly! I can’t wait to get back to the country! Fingers crossed in April for the spring time. What’s one of your favorite travel memories?

As we near autumns end, my favorite season, I’m taking these last days to enjoy the color and smell of fresh fallen leaves. Walking through Radnor lake looking along the hills I spotted this home tucked away back in the trees. I can imagine how beautiful of a view they must have to be blessed to wake up every day perched atop the hill.

Still so much color to be found around Nashville! Love this view I got showed just the other morning! For quite a while I had been looking for a location that’s higher up and gives a beautiful skyline view. I think autumn is the best for this spot as the trees are so tall that had it not been for some of the leaves already dropped the skyline would be obstructed. Possibly a summer location if Metro trims the trees down a few feet.

“Dear shame and doubt
I hold a knowing that is deeper than what's palpable
And although you seem to protect me from pain unimaginable
I know there's more meaning in you
It's slowly becoming legible
I'm here to refine my heart's vocabulary
To see what hurts more clearly
So I can perceive this pain as my own treasure and healing
I'm here to stay with myself
To hold myself close
I'm here to practice courage and quietly let go
Of righteousness, hurtfulness, doubt, complacency
To learn how to navigate all this emotionality with care
With judiciousness, with gratitude, intelligently
I'm here to grow my prayers into
Relations with my own conscience, my own integrity
I'm here to fully participate in my reality
May we remind ourselves
That what hurts is a luminous teaching
May we untangle that pain from the majesty of our being
May the fullness and the emptiness be an opening and expanding
May this love, this dedication
This place of peace be our softest landing
May we remember that our actions have an impact on all of humanity
And may we say what's been unsaid with kindness, with dignity
May the next breath carry us home, again and again
Instantly
Take one deep breath”

In a small town nestled in between mountains in a fjord in east east land there is a beautiful small church with a row of rainbow bricks leading up to it. This spot makes for a beautiful composition if you’re trying to learn leading lines.
