While we tear up just a little bit because this is the lab’s final week at Lx Factory, summer and good weather are just around the corner, bringing us some much needed sunny happiness ☀️

To celebrate, we talked with our dear friend to share this light and smile filled session!

Only 3 more days for the most awaited event of the year at our Lab 🏡
Besides our usual behind the scenes tour, this year we bring two special events on this day::

Prints Swap Market (4pm-6pm): bring up to 5 prints (A4 as a maximum size), with your name and Instagram handle/website in the back, and swap them for other artist’s prints. A great chance to redecorate your walls and get to know other fellow photographers :)

Large Format Portraits (3pm-5pm): the first visits will get the chance to have their portrait taken with a large format camera and get to see a bit of the process with .chasing.sunsets

We also teamed up with our local partners to keep every belly full and everyone happy: will fill our empty stomachs with the tastiest bagels, .cider will kill our thirst with their awesome cider and will keep everyone awake and sharp with their specialty coffee and good vibes.

February 2020 was the month Carmencita Lisboa was officially born and, if you’re good with dates and historic events, it was the second most important thing that happened that month, right after Covid struck Europe like a storm.

Against all odds, the project thrived thanks to the thousands of eager art and expression seekers who kept showing up, slowly but steadily, allowing it to grow.

It grew so much that, sadly, could no longer make room for us, so we had to find a new, bigger home.

We care deeply about our first nest. So many stories happened there... enough to fill an entire analog novel, and we will miss those black and white walls very much.

But we came to realize that what we really need is one space to hold all the stories that are yet to come. So, sadly but surely, we’ve made the decision to close the doors of our first home 💔

April 30th will be our last day in Alcântara, but on the following day, and for many years to come, we will welcome you to Av. Rovisco Pais, in Arroios.

Trust us: you’re going to love the new place. We have air conditioning, a fridge filled with even more rolls, happy faces waiting to welcome you, three subway stations nearby, and even a few secret tricks to park your car right next to the lab’s door 😉 (just ask us about it).

We also have lots of news up our sleeves, some of it pretty big, trust us.

And finally, we want to assure you: our new home is your new home. Come meet us there and, in the meantime, feel free to share whatever you like in the comments. Funny or embarrassing stories are more than welcome!

The sun is shining once again in Lisbon and together with it we bring you some great news 🌞 We loved the last Open Call so much that we’ve decided to run a new one. This time we are looking for only one solid project to showcase in a solo exhibition on our next Lab event (more TBA). The theme is completely free, we just want to see and exhibit your best work up to date.

We are looking for:

• An unique, strong personal project;
• The project must have a maximum of 8 photographs
• Images must have been scanned in Carmencita Lisboa.

All the submissions are free. Submit your images via Google Drive or WeTransfer.com + title + year the photo was taken + project statement (maximum of 300 words) to [email protected] with the subject “OPEN CALL - Solo Exhibition”, along with your name and Instagram handle.

The deadline for submissions is April 8th.
We won’t consider any submission that does not respect the stated guidelines, or submissions sent after the deadline.
