When you have this list, bridal portraits become so much easier!

Here is the list when is the best time to take bride portraits.
Short windows, calm light, zero theater posing.

1. Right after getting ready
8–12 minutes by a window. Makeup is fresh, room is quiet.

2. Before the first look
5 minutes in a clear hallway/doorway.

3. After the first look
5 minutes while emotions are high and guests aren’t around.

4. During couple portraits
take 10-15 minutes solo for soft, focused frames.

5. Golden hour
if timing allows, step aside for 10 minutes in low sun.

6. If no daylight
doorway or lamp edge-light, overheads off, 5 minutes.

7. After ceremony as a part of group photos
one “exhale” portrait away from guests, 5 minutes.

8. In-between moments
Need 5 - 10 minutes to exhale? Blame the photographer. We’ll slip out, breathe, and make a
few calm frames.

This Partner Chet Sheet is your shortcut to a beautiful Maternity Photo Session.

Save this for him!

● Keep your front pockets empty
● Hands: flat, gentle, no fists
● Watch for watch/bracelet glare
● Take off smartwatches if you can - they will date the photos later
● Look at her more than the camera
● Ask “comfy?” every few minutes
● Float your hand on the bump - don’t press
● Stand on the wind side to block hair from her face
● Tuck one strand if it’s covering her eyes (ask first)
● Carry the tote and swap shoes for stairs
● Offer a hand to stand up - spot her on rocks
● Chat with the belly
● Hug her a lot

If anything feels off, we pause. Comfort first

10 not obvious questions to ask your wedding photographer before signing agreement.

1. What’s your approach on the day - mostly observing or gently guiding?

2. How do you prepare if you don’t know the venue or location?

3. Can we see full wedding gallery - not just highlights?

4. How do you handle different light conditions? Are you ok with shooting in a harsh light or darkness?

5. Do you help adjust the timeline so the day still breathes?

6. How do you keep us relaxed without theater posing?

7. Do you work from shot lists or is your approach more documentary? How do you handle our must-haves?

8. Can you handle family photos fast and painless?

9. What’s your backup plan - gear redundancy, memory cards, second shooter, emergencies?

10. Do you offer a sneak preview, how many photos, and what’s the timeline?

Proposal tips no one tells you (from a photographer who’s seen it all)

#1 Don’t pick a spot just because it’s ‘Instagram famous’.

You don’t need a viral cliff to make it special. Choose somewhere quiet or hidden. Need help? Hire a photographer who knows the spots.

#2 The ring box is always too big.

You’ll end up with a suspicious pocket bulge. Get a slim travel box, hide in a sock, or check my post about where to hide a ring.

#3 Go for it earlier than planned, but not the first day.

Every person I’ve photographed gets nervous and wants to wait for “the perfect moment.”
But if you want to celebrate your engagement throughout the whole stay, plan this few days after landing in Portugal!
But! Give yourselves a day to breathe before you give her the biggest surprise of her life. Jet lag, travel chaos, sunburn... This is not the vibe.

#4 Wind & Tide play a huge role.

The wind and tides shape everything here. What you saw yesterday might look completely different today.

#5 You’ll forget your speech.

Every single one of them does. Don’t fight it. Say what you feel. Sometimes, it comes out as a half-whisper between tears. Sometimes, it is just this one question. Sometimes, just looking in her eyes makes her shout "Yessss"

#6 She loves feeling beautiful? Help her get there.

Tell her you booked dinner. Or a “photoshoot for fun.” She’ll thank you later for letting her feel like herself when she says yes.

#7 Book your photographer early.

Not just because of availability, but because we can help you find the light, the tide, and the
quiet places no one else knows about.

Save this post for your proposal!

A wedding truth you need to hear!
The best wedding photos? They’re often the ones no one asked for.

Not the staged champagne pops. Not the “look, I’m casually writing my vows while staring out the window like I’m in a perfume ad.” Not the Pinterest-perfect recreations of someone else’s story.

IT'S YOU!

It’s the way your mum’s hand shakes as she pins your veil. The tear rolling down your dad’s
cheek when he thinks no one’s watching. The ridiculous laugh when your best friend makes
an inappropriate joke mid-toast. The "Mariah Carrey" moment of your friend.

The messy, chaotic, real things.

Because here’s the truth: you don’t need to perform or pose to be worthy of beautiful photos.

YOU ARE ALREADY THE BEST VERSION OF YOURSELF!

Of course we’ll take group portraits — the ones you’ll treasure forever. But the rest? Let’s skip the fake moments and trust that who you are, how you love, how you feel — that’s the most beautiful story of all.

Your wedding isn’t a Pinterest board.

It’s your love.
Your people.
Your day.

Would you rather have one “perfect” staged photo… or a whole gallery that feels like you?

5 Tiny Moves That Beat Any Pose!

Not into posing? Good. Neither am I.

Here’s what I tell my couples: the best photos happen when you forget the camera and let your body do its thing.

These little moves will help you look relaxed, alive, and totally you:

1. Hands 🤲

Hands tell stories. They show love, comfort, playfulness. When you don’t know what to do - touch each other. A shoulder squeeze, brushing hair away, fingers tracing down an arm.

Your hands are the secret to turning stiff photos into warm, emotional ones.

2. Chin + Neck ‍😵‍💫

Think of it like mini-yoga. Instead of freezing, roll your chin in tiny circles or draw lazy figure-eights with your neck. It keeps your face relaxed and gives a softness to your whole vibe.

3. Knees 🍷

Locked knees = awkward robot vibes. Soft knees = “I’ve had two glasses of wine and life is good.” Keep them bent just enough to feel loose and comfortable. It changes everything.

4. Eyes 👀

Don’t stare down the camera like you’re taking a passport photo. Let your gaze wander.

Look at each other, the horizon, the ground, the sky. Wherever your eyes go, your mood follows, and it makes the photos feel alive.

5. Whole Body Movement 🤸

Stillness is when nerves creep in. Movement is freedom.

Sway. Walk. Run. Jump. Spin.

Each body moves differently, and that’s where the magic is — your own language of love and joy.

Here’s the secret: movement doesn’t just make photos look better. It calms your nerves, melts the stress, and brings back the fun.

And the best part? The way you move the way your hands find each other, the way your bodies sway together, the way your laughter spills out - is completely yours.

That body language is unrepeatable. It’s what makes every session unique. It’s what makes the photos not just beautiful, but yours.

5 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Choosing a Photo Location in the Algarve

1. Each spot has its “magic hour”

Not every Algarve beach looks like a sunset dream. Some cliffs glow only at sunset, others are all about sunrise, and some look incredible even in the bright light of the day.

2. Privacy is the secret sauce

That Insta-famous beach? Gorgeous, yes. But also… about 300 strangers in the background during summer. Nothing kills the romance like a guy with a selfie stick behind you. That’s why I love more calm spots or hidden parts of the most popular beaches, where you get to actually relax, kiss, laugh, and just be you.

3. Cliffs vs. Sand – what’s your vibe?

Cliffs are like the drama queens (majestic, cinematic, bold, adventurous). Sand is the gentle romantic (soft, intimate, dreamy). The best sessions mix a bit of both — it’s like having two photo shoots in one.

4. The tide has a personality of its own

Here’s a fun one: the ocean changes the set for us. One moment you’ve got a huge sandy stage, next it’s gone under the water. Sometimes rocks pop out that weren’t there before.
Basically, your backdrop will be moody and unpredictable.

5. Accessibility is… let’s say “creative”

Some of the prettiest beaches are hidden behind steep trails or loooong staircases.
Beautiful? Absolutely. Bride in heels? Nope. Grandma in flip flops? Double nope. So it’s good to think ahead before falling in love with a photo you saw on Pinterest.

And here is the best part!

You don’t have to figure any of this out on your own.

I spend my days chasing sunsets, scouting secret corners, and timing and calculating tides (yes, it’s a thing). When you work with me, I’ll take care of the light + location puzzle, so you can just
focus on strolling on the beach and having your best photo date ever!

Someone just told me this: “You know… your photos are like from National Geographic.”

Umm... my jaw literally dropped. Possibly the coolest compliment ever?!

But honestly, as a photographer shooting in Algarve, my job isn’t just about capturing those sweet, romantic glances (though that's always a heart-melting bonus).

It’s about showcasing you in this EPIC landscape that brought you together.

Sun-drenched cliffs, wild beaches, crazy waves. Capturing your love story exactly as it felt in that moment.

If you’re ready for photos that feel adventurous, emotional, and yeah, a little Nat Geo-esque, then hey, you’ve found your girl.

Adventure awaits. Your love story deserves it.
