It was a night that I picked to go on what I call my night tour. Shooting the night scenery, deco, lasers and all that comes with it.
Upon arrival at the mainstage I had planned to take some shots of the lasers and deco inside the dome; facing the mainstage from the lightcontrol stand in the back. There's a ponton over there in front of the light controls; exclusively for the less able and their accompanists if needed.
That's where Arik Peretz and his daughter Ruth ussualy hung out at night after dark; and also a spot where the media team is allowed to go and take some footage.
That night was no different from other nights; both were there and Ruth clearly enjoyed the music while spinning her wheelchair. Arik allways by her side, relentless looking after and taking care of his daughter.
We greeted, and simultaneously he asked if I was into taking a picture of them. "Sure - why not - be my guest guys".
Lighting conditions were a bit harsch to say the least with all those lasers and led's in full swing. But coincidentally - or not - there was my friend and media team member Filipe Patrocínio who apparently had the same idea of doing his night tour and walked onto that ponton. He saw what the situation was, dug out his phone and threw some welcome extra light on both of them.
Never ever could I've imagined what was about to happen a couple of months later... This leaves me devastated, I can not fathom this.
Watching the footage of their abandonded car at the Nova Festival was a bad sign, that got confirmed with Arik's official identification. For now there's no news on Ruth and who knows where she's right now or what's she's going through. She needs personal assistance and medical care...
NOTE: The massacre and kidnapping of hundreds of members of our beloved psytrance family who were present at the Nova Party is heartbreaking. Arik and Ruth are not the only ones we know who left their lives while celebrating life trough music and dance. But this is not a political statement or so - don't make it one as I will not tolerate it and regarding comments will be removed.
I condamn all voilence - all over the world.

Boom 2023! Where to start? I think I can easily write a couple of pages...😉 traditionally, I write/post very little during events. Not good for the likes they say - lol - but I guess it shouldn't be always about instant gratification or the business, isn't it? So, let me "just" say THANK YOU!! Thank you, the Boomers, as without you there simply wouldn'tbe a Boom! Thank you for having me as a member of the official media team once again, ánd for the challenges you created along the road. Thanks to my lovely wife and daughter for being a part of this journey and, of course, for taking care of me. Thank you to all the artists, performers, builders, and everyone else who has a part in making Boom to what it is! This particular shot was taken from the fire guard watch tower, high above the Being Fields, at the exact time when the stages were closing. In all honesty, it was a bit with mixed emotions and quite to witness all the cheering down there after such an intense week, but totally worth it!
