Nelson Carvalheiro Territorial visual storytelling through personal stories Nelson Carvalheiro is all about passion for People, Travel and Food.

It comes as no surprise for someone who grew up in a small farm in Coimbra, Portugal and made his career in international hospitality in Spain, Brazil, UK and the US. Dedicated hotel manager and natural born story teller, Nelson loves small personal ambiences, which show that there was love and dedication put into, where one can experience a million different details all working together. He has worked in for most of his career at unique places with a great share of it being at Palacio Belmonte, where he personally oversees each guest’s stay, being more like a local friend who really knows the city well and will unbiasedly recommend the best that it has to offer. The travels he shares on his Blog, Facebook ,Twitter and Pinterest are mostly friend generated, as he feels that the best way to get to know a city is through an insider, who can share feelings and emotions about sites, food and people as passionately as he does about Lisbon. Some places stay with you.
Elvas became part of me.

I came here with a camera and an ambition: to take the light of this place out into the world. Somewhere between the golden fields, the water, the horses and the last light falling over the walls, that ambition became personal.

The script asks what stays with us. What brings us back. Where the heart feels at home.

Looking at these faces, I have my answer.

This is why I created ncreativ studio. To tell stories with meaning. To get close enough to a place that its people, its tenderness and its quiet strength can be felt in every frame. To make work that travels across borders and still belongs, completely, to the place that inspired it.

Every silence.
Every glance.
Every moment has to mean something.

Behind these images are people who gave this project their time, their trust and their hearts. To everyone who stood beside me, stepped in front of the lens and welcomed us into their world: there is so much of you in this work.

My hope is that someone, somewhere, sees it and feels drawn to Elvas before they can even explain why.

From this same light.
From these days of ours.
From this quiet love.

Elvas, may your light travel far.
May it bring the world to you.

There are summers I know I’ll remember because of where we went.
And others because of who we were while we were there.

Gerês was a little bit of both.

Days of tents, mountains, waterfalls, scraped knees, burgers cooked outside, ice creams, endless swimming and jumping from rocks that probably looked much higher from where I was standing.

Kids don’t calculate the risk the way we do. They calculate how much fun they’re about to have.

And maybe my job isn’t to stop them from jumping.
It’s to make sure they know how to jump.
To teach them to be brave, but not careless.
To let them discover their limits instead of giving them mine.

Fatherhood is strange like that.

Half the time I’m trying to teach them something.
The other half they’re reminding me of everything adulthood made me forget.

I get frustrated. I get things wrong. I question what I’m doing more often than I admit. There is no manual for any of this.

So I keep coming back to something much simpler.

Be there.

Carry them when their legs are tired.
Let them climb when they still have energy.
Teach them to swim.
Let them jump.
Make the burgers.
Take the photos.
Laugh at the chaos.
Create the adventures.

Being the father I never had.

Teaching them to be brave, to seek adventure, to be curious about the world and, hopefully, giving them the childhood I never got to have.

I have no idea how much of these summers they will remember.

But I hope they remember how they felt.

Safe enough to explore.
Loved enough to be fearless.
And always knowing that Dad was right there, watching them jump. ❤️

I’d been meaning to visit Chef João Mourato at Quinta do Quetzal for years. Now I get why people drive for hours just to eat here. João cooks with soul and welcomes you like family. Bold flavours, no gimmicks, pure Alentejo.

Chef João Mourato is a kind soul (like me), so it’s no surprise we connected instantly. He has a deep passion for life - and you cantaste it in his food.
Bold flavours, down-to-earth recipes, and dishes rooted in his Alentejo origins. He cooks with meaning, as if discovering each dish for the first time and falling in love with it all over again.
João, your food touched my heart.

Highlights:
🐷Pork roasted slow with creamy mushroom rice
🦞River crayfish Bulhão Pato style with low temp yolk and cured pork
🍇Harvest season grape gazpacho with goat cheese ice cream and fried fish
🧁Vila de Frades “Delírio” dessert by Ana Arronches

🍅Best moment: making Alentejo tomato soup with João in the kitchen
