Já conheço a há bastante tempo. Essa é uma mulher forte, mãe de três filhos, esposa companheira de aventuras, profissional extremamente competente e uma amiga doce. Quando entrou em contacto comigo já começou a conversa dizendo que não gosta de se ver em fotografias. Se eu tivesse um cêntimo para cada vez que eu escuto essa frase…
Adoro fotografar pessoas que se escondem da câmera. Para mim, mostrar a beleza que eu vejo nelas é o que me dá propósito para continuar a fazer o que amo. Ter nossas imagens gravadas em forma de fotografia é uma forma de deixar uma marca nesse mundo para os que nos amam e para nos lembrarmos de nos amarmos também.

Long before I met Thordis for this photoshoot, I came across her incredible TED Talk. And what a TED talk that was! Viewed nearly 6 million times, she talked about her sexual abuse and the journey towards healing, and she shared the stage with her abuser. She is the author of South of Forgiveness, which I just couldn’t put down.
This is not a female you should ignore. A lioness, she roars loud and clear about her position when it comes to Women’s Rights. She is a feminist, raising three boys to be that too.
She also started the most beautiful movement called during her bedrest due to a highly risk twin pregnancy. This movement consists of her followers sending encouraging messages or “simply” light and good vibrations to other followers who are going through hard times. She did and still does mediate the stories, making sure we get to know about some incredible miracle stories, restoring hope in people’s hearts, including my own.
Looking forward to meeting this force of nature for more photos, chat over gyozas and coffee.

This shoot started just before the lockdown became official here in Portugal.
Those were very strange and uncertain times. However, every time I would meet Catherine ( , I would forget all the worries and immerse myself into her world of arts and her life growing up in Marocco, and all the adventures and beauty that came with it. In between stories I would photograph and get inspired by her. Remarkable woman, artist, mother, friend.

It was gentle, tender and so beautiful.

…and that is the memory I have of this photoshoot.
Photographing Deborah Hanekamp aka. , was more than her standing in front of the camera, and me holding it. When I saw her interact with nature, something sublime happened and made me wonder if it was actually Gaia that was whispering in her ears, caressing her hair and embracing her body.

It was gentle, tender, beautiful and powerful.

This photo was taken under one of my favorites waterfalls, in the country side of Brasil.
Being so far from the coast, this region is lucky nevertheless. It’s rich with waterfalls and lush forests and really cute monkeys and beautiful tucanos, amongst many other animals. Those two were my elected favorites this year!

Beautiful Camila Balbi making magic in the kitchen (scroll left for more)

It has been nearly one year since I started a plant based diet. I am so happy to feel that my lifestyle is in accordance to my principles, finally. Still a lot to learn and adjust but I definitely became a lot more conscious towards my choices and their impact in the world. I still love my meat eater friends - no judgements, that is also part of the process.
