Just a reminder how it all started...
Olá e bem vindos à Cameras from Lisbon. O meu nome é Daniel e sou de Lisboa, nos arredores, mais propriamente. Sou fotógrafo e desde muito novo tive a sorte de ter visto e usado, muitas cameras diferentes, algumas das cameras mais interessantes do mundo do coleccionismo e outras muito raras. O meu amor apareceu devido à colecção (e tb mto amor) que o meu Pai tinha pela fotografia e pelo equipamento fotográfico antigo. Dizem os entendidos na matéria que seria a maior colecção em Portugal... Em 1964 fii demar una vokta ao mundo e juntiu mais de 800slides... alem dos w turou na suas muitas outras viagens pelo 4 continente. Nunca visitou a Austrália
Mas a fotografia na minha familia já vinha de antes. O meu Avo José Rego, juntamente com um fotógrafo muito conhecido na altura (Amadeo Ferrari) tinham uma loja de equipamento fotográfico. Era a JC Alvarez, situada na base do elevador de Santa Justa.
Em 1949 o meu Avô José Rego criou uma empresa dedicada ao comércio de equipamento fotográfico. A PROFOTO. Em poucos anos tornou-se no espaço de referência para a Fotografia em Portugal. A Profoto era uma loja que representava algumas das melhores marcas na área. Leica, Hasselblad, Sinar, Tura, Agfa, Bowens, ,Vivitar, Werlisa, IFF, Rodenstock, Hanimex, Ademco, Fumeo, Robot, Manfrotto, Kaiser, Jobo, Tetenal e muitas, muitas mais. Chegou a criar uma marca propria.
O meu Pai desde cedo também entrou no negócio.
Desde que nasci, vivi neste meio e sempre fui fascinado por ele. Felizmente, além do interesse profissional, o meu Pai tb adorava fotografia e câmeras. Graças a isso tive acesso a uma grande colecção de equipamento fotográfico. Vi e usei câmeras extraordinarias e algumas muito raras. Aprendi muito, muito, mas muito com o meu Pai. Mesmo depois da sua morte em 1997, continuo a aprender todos os dias com equipamento e outros artigos relacionados com a fotografia que ele deixou. Assim, eu apenas estou a seguir as suas passadas. Obrigado por tudo, Pai.

Hello and welcome to cameras from Lisbon. My name is Daniel and i am from Lisbon, Portugal. I'm a photographer and since very young I was lucky to have seen and use most of the greatest vintage cameras. My love for cameras, came from my Father (and Grand Father, although I haven't met him). My Grand Father, together with a Friend (we'll know photographer at the time: Amadeo Ferrari) opened a Photo equipment store. It was J.C. Alvarez and it was in the base of Elevador de Santa Justa, downtown LisbonIn 1949 my Grand Father opened his own store, also in downtown Lisbon, in Rua de Santa Justa(not far from previous one). It was named PROFOTO. This store became the official seller for many major brands in the market, such as: Leica, Hasselblad, Sinar, Tura, Agfa, Bowens, ,Vivitar, Werlisa, IFF, Rodenstock, Hanimex, Ademco, Fumeo, Robot, Manfrotto, Kaiser, Jobo, Tetenal and many many other brands. Even created a small portuguese bramd for lab equipament. Famafo. My Father, on his time took over the store, and in the mean while i was born. At the same time, i was lucky that my Father loved photography and vintage cameras as well. So he had a big collection. (Appointed by the specialists has the biggest camera collection in Portugal and one of the biggest in Europe). I used to play with many of his cameras and I really loved them. As soon as i was allowed, i started taking pictures. When i was 9 years old i used to carry my Kodak 110 film camera to school. While on playground, when the other kids were playing, i was taking pictures of them. I love photography since i can remember myself.
My main goal with this page is to be in contact with vintage camera collectors and lovers from all over the world, and have the chance to buy and sell some wonderful cameras, or anything related to image related.

Here you can see 3 pictures. The first one is an advertising from my Father company. The second picture is of a frame Hasselblad have to my Fathers company for their services. Last picture is of one pretty rare camera that was part of my Fathers collection, a CP Stirn, Spy camera from late 1800’s.
