Israel Expands Earthen Barrier Deep Inside Gaza

Satellite images have revealed that Israel is constructing a massive earthen barrier extending nearly one mile (1.6 km) beyond the previously marked Yellow Line in parts of the Gaza Strip. The engineering project, consisting of large sand embankments, trenches, military roads, and fortified positions, has become one of the largest ground infrastructure projects undertaken during the war.

According to Israeli officials, the barrier is intended to strengthen security, prevent armed infiltration, and protect Israeli troops operating inside Gaza. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) say the construction is part of ongoing military operations aimed at preventing Hamas from rebuilding military capabilities.

However, Palestinian authorities and humanitarian organizations have raised concerns that the expanding barrier could further restrict civilian movement, isolate communities, and reduce access to homes, farmland, and essential infrastructure.
