My fingers are freezing while I'm shooting without the gloves. These heroes take second and third round after soaking wet in 2°C glacial waters, wakeboarding between the icebergs like it's nothing and smilling like maniacs. Making it look so easy but I know it's not seeing their jaws rattling so hard on the way back they can barely move.

Thank you .sarin9va for inviting me to shoot this and showing what a persistency looks like.

Veins, organs, arches. Frozen art pieces worth more than Jackson Po***ck and Rothko combined.

1 - Domino brick. Edge of a glacier meeting a bedrock.
The hole filled with water is called a ketlle hole.
It formed when a chunk of glacier broke off, slammed into the ground, then slowly melted away.
Leaving behind a muddy little crater that looks like the Earth cried a bit.

2,3 - Dragon skin.
The ice lizard of Falljökull passed by and left a piece of its tail
and clawed down the mud.
The bedrock steams like a pie left for too long in the oven. Breaking and cut by meltwater as the heat settles in, baking lizard’s skin.

4,5 -Two outlet glaciers arm by arm, hugging each other being but divided by a nunatak in the middle. Virkisjokull in the shadow,
Falljokull in spot-the-main-character mode.

The parking lot’s almost empty. No engine noise, no voices. Just silence.

Abandoned amphibians sit like forgotten toys: slightly ridiculous, slightly sad.
The cafeteria, with its sharp little triangle roof, still holds its place like the quiet boss of the lagoon.
The lake begins to settle, and if there’s no wind, you’ll hear the ice crackling. Feels like Pop Rocks underneath your skin.

Then the krías break the spell: screaming, dive-bombing across icebergs like feathered maniacs with no brakes.
It’s a perfect kind of contrast. Stillness, interrupted by wild precision.

Volcanic ash covers the surface like a secret.

But underneath...

Some say it feels like walking on the moon.
But you don’t need to leave Earth to feel like you’ve left everything behind.

Step onto a glacier, and the world vanishes.
No buzzing phone. No noise. No plans.
Just fresh air in your lungs and the slow, deliberate sound of ❄️ chrkk chrkk chrkk:
metal teeth biting ice.

Every thought narrows to the moment:
Where’s the next step?
Is it safe?
How much rope do we need?

Everything else gets left behind.

It pulls you out of your head.

Whatever noise or stress you carried up here, gets melted away. You feel tiny - but in the best way.

It’s not just: “Wow, pretty ice.” It’s more like: “I am part of something way bigger, and forgot how good that feels”.

Once you’ve felt it, you never really see the world (or yourself) the same way again.
