Buenos Aires is a busy city.

The streets are full, buses never seem to stop, cafés overflow onto the sidewalks and there is always someone talking, laughing or playing music nearby. And yet, somehow, there is very little rush.

Life happens outside, surrounded by other people, but without the feeling that everyone is hurrying somewhere. Even in the middle of all this movement, there is always space to breathe.

During my first trip to Argentina, I accidentally stumbled into a wild Independence Day fiesta, pulled in purely by the sound of the drums.
Even though I was just blending in and pretending to be a photojournalist, everyone welcomed me like one of their own.
Unplanned moments like these are what travel is all about

I don't remember exactly what people were celebrating that day.

What I remember is the atmosphere — the joy, the movement and the sense that, for a few hours, the whole city was breathing with the same rhythm.

And years later, that feeling still stays with me. 🤍

I usually photograph quiet moments. Empty streets. People waiting. Light falling on a wall.

But sometimes Buenos Aires reminds me that silence is only one part of the city.

The other part is music, crowds, drums, people dancing in the streets and the feeling that life happens outside, together.

I have returned to Buenos Aires many times.
And yet it is never the same city twice.

The streets shift.
The light changes.
I change as well.

And perhaps that is why I never grow tired of it.

A city is never one place.
It becomes a different story every time we return.

I don’t think photographs are meant to be decoration.

At least not in the way I relate to them.

The images I return to are the ones that become companions over time — small reminders of a place, a feeling, or a way of seeing the world.

Something to live with, not just look at.

Years ago, after one of my stays in Buenos Aires, I made a small zine.

It wasn’t meant to be a project.
It was more a way of holding on to a place that already started turning into memory.

Looking through it now feels like returning to those streets again — slowly, page by page.

One of the things Buenos Aires taught me is how to slow down.

To sit a little longer. To watch without searching for anything specific. To let moments happen without trying to shape them too quickly.

Some of my favourite photographs were never planned. They appeared when I stopped chasing images and simply paid attention.
