“Free stock photos with no attribution required” sounds simple. And it is.

It means you can use the photo without adding a credit line or linking back to the photographer.

What it doesn’t mean: no copyright, no license, no rules.

The photographer still owns the work, and the license still defines how you can use it. That distinction matters, especially when you’re choosing images for commercial or client projects.

Apparently, we’re not the only ones into Cool Blue.

Pinterest named it one of the defining colors of 2026, with searches for icy blue up 50% and glacier aesthetic up 35%.

We’ve fallen for it too. So consider this our warm-up while we collect inspiration, play with color combinations and plan new shoots around this icy little obsession.

More Cool Blue is definitely coming.

Our designer Kasia surprised us today.

The person who’s usually the first to say “meh” to Instagram trends came up with the idea for this carousel.

Out of all the trends on Instagram, this is probably the one we understand the least. WTF is… being spontaneous.

We have a complicated relationship with trends. Sometimes they genuinely make social media more fun and bring something fresh. Other times, our rebellious side kicks in and makes us want to do the exact opposite.

Either way, the AI image generation trend isn’t really our thing.

If you ever see AI-generated images on Kaboompics, it means one of two things: I’ve either completely lost my mind… or I’m starving and have joined the dark side.

A little more minimal than the usual Italian postcard, but still unmistakably Italy.

These photographs were taken during a road trip with our dogs, somewhere between Udine, Brescia, and the shores of Lake Iseo. Instead of the obvious views, we kept noticing quiet architectural details and the colors repeated along the way: faded peach, warm ochre, deep green, cobalt blue, and sun-washed neutrals.

We probably do not talk about this enough: Kaboompics is not really a library of single free stock photos.

For years, we have created and published complete photoshoots. Wider frames, close-ups, details, different angles and quieter in-between moments, all made to work together.

So while “free stock photos” is technically true, it does not tell the whole story. Kaboompics is closer to a library of free stock photo sets: cohesive images you can mix across a website, newsletter, social media or a full brand project without rebuilding the visual direction from scratch.

A few of the oldest images still live on their own. But most of what you find on Kaboompics today belongs to a complete shoot.

The short answer is yes. But “can I use it?” is no longer the most useful question.

The better questions are:
Do I know what the image is based on?
Do I have clear commercial rights?
Could it contain a recognisable person, product or copyrighted work?
And does it actually feel right for the project?

AI images can be fast, polished and useful. They can also come with legal grey areas, visual inconsistencies and that familiar feeling that you have seen the same image seventeen times already.

That is why real photography still matters. Not because AI should disappear, but because human-made images offer something different: intention, context and a clearer creative origin.

Free editorial stock photos inspired by one of the least inspiring objects possible: an office folder.

The translucent folders started it. Then came paper, envelopes, contact sheets, graph paper, printed photographs, clips and typography. Somewhere along the way, ordinary stationery turned into something between a designer’s archive and an editorial moodboard.

Everything was physically arranged and photographed. No AI, no digital collage. Just paper, scissors and the usual moving-things-by-three-millimetres-until-they-finally-look-right.

Styling a small still life is surprisingly surgical work.

A stem moves three millimeters to the left. A petal turns slightly. One object needs to be lifted with tweezers, moved, photographed and moved back again.

At this scale, art direction is less about adding more things and more about controlling the relationships between shape, color, texture and negative space. A tiny adjustment can change the entire composition.
