[ENG] Atmosphere isn’t made in Lightroom. Seriously.

A forest alone won’t create the photograph. A white dress won’t do it either. And a preset definitely won’t.

What truly builds atmosphere happens much earlier - in the light, composition, styling, gestures and all those small decisions you make before you even press the shutter.

To, co naprawdę buduje atmosferę, dzieje się wcześniej - w świetle, kompozycji, stylizacji, gestach i tych małych decyzjach, które podejmujesz jeszcze zanim klikniesz spust migawki.

[ENG] A feminine photoshoot in an apartment can be much more than just a series of beautiful portraits.

In this blog post, I show how light, interior, styling and calm direction can create an atmosphere that stays with you for longer. It is a story about warm light, mirror reflections, a silver dress and an invisible studio lamp that quietly organizes the whole scene.

Step behind the scenes of a photoshoot where the most important thing was not posing, but atmosphere.

[PL] Kobieca sesja zdjęciowa w apartamencie może być czymś więcej niż tylko serią pięknych portretów.

W tym wpisie pokazuję, jak światło, wnętrze, stylizacja i spokojne prowadzenie modelki mogą stworzyć klimat, który zostaje w pamięci na dłużej. To opowieść o ciepłym świetle, lustrzanych odbiciach, srebrzystej sukience i niewidocznej lampie studyjnej, która dyskretnie porządkuje całą scenę.

[ENG] When a woman shows her body, the judgement begins immediately.

Is it appropriate?
Is it still art?
Is it already a provocation?
Does it need to be justified somehow?

Or maybe the biggest problem is not in the photograph - but in the way we look at it?

I wrote a new blog post about how this session came together, why I don’t want to call it simply “photos in lingerie”, and what truly interested me in these frames.

Because for me, this is not a text about how much body can be shown in a photograph.

It is a text about how easy it is to stop seeing the photography when the body starts taking all the attention.

[PL] Kiedy kobieta pokazuje ciało, natychmiast zaczyna się sąd.

Czy wypada?
Czy to jeszcze sztuka?
Czy już prowokacja?
Czy trzeba to jakoś usprawiedliwić?

A może największy problem nie leży w zdjęciu - tylko w sposobie patrzenia?

Napisałem nowy tekst na blogu o tym, jak powstała ta sesja, dlaczego nie chcę nazywać jej po prostu „zdjęciami w bieliźnie” i co tak naprawdę interesowało mnie w tych kadrach.

Bo dla mnie to nie jest tekst o tym, ile ciała można pokazać na zdjęciu.

To tekst o tym, jak łatwo przestać widzieć fotografię, kiedy ciało zaczyna przyciągać całą uwagę.

(PL) Są momenty, których nie da się zaplanować.
Można przygotować stylizację, miejsce, światło, kadr…
ale tego jednego składnika nigdy nie masz pewności:
magii.
I właśnie ona pojawiła się tutaj.
W mgle.
W ciszy.
W tym spojrzeniu.
W geście dłoni.
W świetle, które na chwilę zrobiło z lasu coś pomiędzy snem a wspomnieniem.
Patrząc na te zdjęcia, mam poczucie, że nie fotografowałem postaci.
Fotografowałem emocję, której nie da się nazwać jednym słowem.
Delikatność i siłę jednocześnie.
Spokój i niepokój.
Światło i cień.
Jakby ktoś na chwilę otworzył drzwi do innego świata i pozwolił nam zajrzeć.
Właśnie za to kocham fotografię.
Za te sekundy, w których obraz przestaje być tylko obrazem -
i zaczyna coś w nas poruszać.

(ENG) There are moments you simply can’t plan.
You can prepare the styling, the location, the light, the frame…
but there’s one ingredient you can never be sure of:
magic.
And that’s exactly what appeared here.
In the fog.
In the silence.
In that gaze.
In the gesture of a hand.
In the light that, for a moment, turned the forest into something between a dream and a memory.
Looking at these photos, I feel like I wasn’t photographing a character.
I was photographing an emotion - one that can’t be named with a single word.
Delicacy and strength at the same time.
alm and unease.
Light and shadow.
As if someone had opened the door to another world for a moment and let us look inside.
That’s exactly why I love photography.
For those seconds when an image stops being just an image -
and starts to move something inside us.
