Unforgettable moments with the "clowns of the sea" on Runde Island, Norway!

Getting to observe these adorable Atlantic Puffins up close on the dramatic Norwegian cliffs was a core memory in the making. We managed to capture them in almost every mood and moment:

🪶 Striking a majestic pose with wings wide open
✈️ Cruising effortlessly through the sea breeze
🌱 Hard at work carrying fresh nesting material to their burrows
⛰️ Just kicking back and enjoying the view on the rocky slopes

Being just a few feet away from them, surrounded by the wild beauty of Norway, is an experience that will stay with us for a very long time. Nature really showed off for this one!

First batch of photos from our trip to Norway! 🇳🇴

Although oystercatchers were not our main target, we knew they were around. In fact, they were everywhere! Finding them was super easy because they are incredibly loud. They were foraging around the rocks looking for food, chasing other oystercatchers and seagulls.

If you watch them for a while, you can tell they definitely have a lot of character. Beautiful birds in the stunning scenery of Norwegian fjords. 🌊

Choć ostrygojady nie były naszym głównym celem, wiedzieliśmy, że są w okolicy. W zasadzie były wszędzie, a ich znalezienie było bardzo proste, bo są niesamowicie głośne! Kręciły się przy skałach w poszukiwaniu jedzenia, goniąc inne ostrygojady i mewy.

Gdy poobserwuje się je chwilę, od razu widać, że to zadziorne i odważne zwierzęta. Piękne ptaki w niesamowitej scenerii norweskich fiordów. 🌊

Meeting red deer is always a thrill. This time, instead of just watching them from afar, we had the chance to take a few photos. Ever watchful and alert, we just stood there, locking eyes with each other.

The stags are still hanging out together. Some still have velvet on their antlers, others are shedding it, and a few have already cleaned theirs off. Just another month or a half, 15 degrees cooler in the morning, and the rutting season will begin! 🍂

Spotkanie z jeleniami to zawsze wielkie emocje. Tym razem, zamiast obserwować je tylko z daleka, mieliśmy okazję zrobić im kilka zdjęć. Jak zwykle czujne i uważne — staliśmy tak i po prostu patrzyliśmy na siebie.

Byki wciąż trzymają się razem. Niektóre mają jeszcze scypuł, inne są w trakcie jego zrzucania, a część już całkowicie się go pozbyła. Jeszcze miesiąc, półtora, 15 stopni mniej o poranku i zacznie się rykowisko! 🍂

This year was amazing for Great Crested Grebe photography! 📸

Not only were we successful in finding a few of their nests and watching them incubate their eggs, but we also saw the chicks hatch and leave. (The empty nest even became a coot's favorite resting spot, but that’s another story!)

Finally, it’s time to share a few photos we took from both land and water. What amazed us most was how accepting these birds were, letting us photograph them so closely.

Wondering about the blood in the first photo? Unfortunately, we can only guess. One day the grebes disappeared for a while and returned with what looks like a battle scar. But what we did see were fierce fights between three pairs of grebes protecting their territories.

That’s what it takes to raise chicks—sometimes you have to stand your ground to protect calm, fish-rich waters. 🌊🪶

Ten rok był niesamowity jeśli chodzi o fotografowanie perkozów dwuczubych! 📸

Nie dość, że udało nam się znaleźć kilka ich gniazd i obserwować, jak wysiadują jaja, to zobaczyliśmy też, jak pisklęta się wykluwają i opuszczają gniazdo. Puste gniazdo stało się nawet ulubionym miejscem odpoczynku dla łyski, ale to już inna historia!.

W końcu przyszedł czas, aby podzielić się kilkoma zdjęciami, które zrobiliśmy zarówno z lądu, jak i z wody. Najbardziej zadziwiło nas to, jak bardzo te ptaki nas akceptowały, pozwalając na fotografowanie z tak bliska.

Zastanawiacie się nad krwią na pierwszym zdjęciu? Niestety możemy się tylko domyślać. Pewnego dnia perkozy zniknęły na chwilę i wróciły z czymś, co wyglądało jak rana po walce. Widzieliśmy wcześniej zacięte starcia między trzema parami perkozów broniących swoich terytoriów.

Oto, czego wymaga odchowanie piskląt — czasem trzeba postawić na swoim, aby obronić spokojne wody, obfite w ryby. 🌊🪶

One shot is all it takes! 💯 The difference between getting one great photo and going home empty-handed is everything. We only had a brief moment with the Black terns as they were feeding over the boggy waters. In that quick window, we managed to get just one good shot—but it’s one we’re really proud of! 🖤🌾 We wish we could have stayed longer to watch them hunt and explore their wetland home. At the end of the day, capturing these split-second moments and spending time outdoors in nature is what we love most. 🍃✨ 💬 Have you ever seen a Black tern in the wild? Jedno zdjęcie wystarczy! 💯 Różnica między złapaniem jednego dobrego kadru a powrotem z pustymi rękami to przepaść między 1 a 0. Mogliśmy spędzić tylko krótką chwilę z rybitwami czarnymi, gdy żerowały nad podmokłymi terenami. W tym krótkim okienku udało nam się zrobić zaledwie jedno dobre zdjęcie — ale jesteśmy z niego naprawdę dumni! 🖤🌾 Chcielibyśmy móc zostać dłużej, by obserwować ich polowania i przemierzać ich podmokłe siedliska. Koniec końców, chwytanie takich ulotnych momentów i spędzanie czasu nad wodą to coś, co kochamy najbardziej. 🍃✨ 💬

ENG 🇬🇧 Badgers🦡 playing outside their sett in broad daylight is a rare sight. These naturally secretive animals show immense energy when they feel safe with their family—rolling around, wrestling, and frolicking on the forest floor just like playful puppies.😆 Truly charming!

We don't often get the chance to perform live in front of a big audience, but last weekend we had the great pleasure of taking part in the Zbliżenia photo festival. This time, all 3️⃣ of us were there. It was a fantastic weekend filled with like-minded people, and inspiring discussions going well beyond photography and conservatiob.. all in an idyllic setting of Puszczykówka. If you are in the area next June, we highly recommend checking it out❗

Nieczęsto mamy okazję zaprezentować się na żywo przed większą publicznością, ale w miniony weekend mieliśmy ogromną przyjemność uczestniczyć w festiwalu Zbliżenia. Tym razem w pełnym 3️⃣ składzie. To był fantastyczny weekend z ludźmi podobnej wrażliwości, inspirujące dyskusje wykraczające poza fotografie czy ochronę środowiska a wszystko to w bajkowym otoczeniu Puszczykówki. We had no luck with fox kits this spring 🦊 Although we managed to find two active dens, both were raided by another fox, and none of the kits survived 💔 It was a heartbreaking thing to witness, but that is nature after all—it can be incredibly cruel, and we have to accept it as it is. Because of this, we are coming back to a few unpublished shots from last year 📸 Back then, almost all the kits safely left the den, and watching them grow was such a joyful time for us 🌱

Tego lata nie mieliśmy szczęścia do młodych lisków 🦊 Choć udało nam się zlokalizować dwie aktywne nory, obie zostały splądrowane przez innego lisa, a żadne z młodych nie przeżyło 💔 To był potworny widok, ale taka jest natura – bywa niesamowicie brutalna i musimy to pokornie zaakceptować. W związku z tym wracamy do kilku niepublikowanych kadrów z zeszłego roku 📸 Wtedy prawie wszystkim liskom udało się bezpiecznie opuścić norę, a obserwowanie, jak dorastają, było dla nas wyjątkowo radosnym czasem 🌱

However, with Instagram's framing, we usually lean towards publishing portraits. 🖼️ Vertical framing doesn't always go well with action shots or moody pictures. ✨ Are your posts also affected by Instagram's preferred framing and content?

To nie są zdjęcia, które zazwyczaj publikujemy na Instagramie. 📸 Nie oznacza to jednak, że nie lubimy robić takich ujęć! Just before they head out to forage, a mandatory toilet break is absolutely necessary! Badgers 🦡 are undoubtedly one of the cleanest animals in our forests. But the real family bonding time is all about mutual scratching and grooming of their fur! 🐾 For us, being concealed 🌿 and witnessing this unique spectacle is for sure one of the best wildlife experiences! ✨

Tuż przed wyruszeniem na żer, obowiązkowa wizyta w toalecie to podstawa! Borsuki 🦡 to zdecydowanie jedne z najczystszych zwierząt w naszych lasach. Jednak prawdziwy czas na zacieśnianie więzi rodzinnych to wspólne drapanie i pielęgnacja futra! 🐾 Dla nas przebywanie w ukryciu 🌿 i obserwowanie tego wyjątkowego spektaklu to z pewnością jedno z najlepszych przyrodniczych doświadczeń! ✨
