Global Korea Scholarship is designed to provide international students with opportunities to study at higher educational institutions in Korea at graduate-level degrees, which will enhance international education exchange and deepen mutual friendship between Korea and participating countries.
***Period of Scholarship
○ Master’s Degree Program: 3 years (1 year of Korean language program + 2 years of degree program)
○ Doctoral Degree Program: 4 years (1 year of Korean language program + 3years of degree program)
○ Important Notes regarding Scholarship Period
- Only GKS scholars who achieve at least level 3 on TOPIK by the end of one-year Korean language program can proceed to the degree program.
- Those who receive TOPIK level 5 or 6 within the first 6 months of the Korean language program will be exempt from 6-month language training and must start their degree program in the following semester (March 2023).
***Applicants who are interested in this program have to choose their preferred university and department from the universities in Korea explained in the attached guidelines and submit their application form with all the required information by the application deadline. ***Conditions:
Iran born citizens whose parents have been born in Iran as well (dual nationality is not accepted)
Must be under 40 years of age as of March 1, 2023 (born after September 1, 1983)
- Master’s Program Applicants: Must hold a Bachelor’s degree or a level of education equivalent to or higher than a Bachelor’s degree.
- Doctoral Program Applicants: Must hold a Master’s degree or a level of education equivalent to or higher than a Master’s degree.
(Notes for the applicants in their Bachelor’s and Master’s degree program) Applicants who are expected to graduate by August 31, 2023 can also apply for the program. Applicants who are expected to graduate at the time of application must first submit a certificate of expected graduation. The official degree certificate (or diploma) and final academic transcript must be submitted to NIIED by August 31, 2023 at the very latest.
All applicants must have maintained the cumulative grade point average (CGPA) equivalent to or higher than any ONE of the following from their respective universities:
C.G.P.A.:2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5, 3.23/5.0
Score percentile should be 80% or above on a 100-point scale or be ranked within the top 20% within one’s class (*Refer to Appendix A. GPA Conversion table)
- If an applicant holds a transcript that does not include information on grade point average or is unable to convert his or her grades into any one of the GPA criteria mentioned above, then applicant must submit an official document issued by the applicant’s university describing the university’s grading system.

*First round result via E-mail on 2023.02.28– Applicant will be notified whether you’ve been selected for the second round or failed.
****Please have in mind the number of applications are high and only people who are qualified in every way with better GPAs, language qualifications, well written study plan and etc. will be selected for second round.
****Before submitting your application place every document by the checklist, if the documents are not by the designated sort or lack necessary information you will be disqualified to apply.
*Second round interviews will be on 2023.03.05 and you’ll be contacted about the result of the interview on 2023.03.06. (provisional)
