Headline: A Crucial Lesson on Workplace Hypocrisy: Why Culture and Integrity Matter More Than Salary
I am sharing a recent professional experience to raise awareness among fellow candidates about the importance of evaluating management before joining a new organization.
Recently, I switched to a new company for a better salary. However, I soon realized that no amount of money can compensate for a toxic environment and a hypocritical manager.
The Reality of Toxic Management:
My experience with the Finance Manager was a classic example of "unprofessionalism." He displayed a double standard that was both unethical and damaging:
The Trap of False Empathy: On my face, he would act supportive, telling me, "Your predecessor used to stay late, but I don't want you to do that. You should leave on time." * Backstabbing & Hypocrisy: Following his advice, I would complete my work and head home. However, as soon as I reached home, I would receive calls from HR. It turned out that the same manager was complaining behind my back, claiming I was "escaping early" and "performing poorly."
Broken Promises: Despite my assurance that I would clear all pending tasks by putting in extra hours right after Ramadan, he chose to manipulate the situation. Within just 18 days, I was terminated without notice based on his false reports to HR.
The Consequences:
Not only was I terminated without a fair chance or notice, but my dues have also not been cleared yet. This experience taught me that a manager who says one thing to you and another to leadership is the biggest "red flag" in any job.
📢 Moving Forward:
Despite this setback, I am resilient and ready for a fresh start. I am currently actively seeking a new opportunity in Accounts & Finance or Video Editing where I can contribute my skills to a professional and growth-oriented environment. If you know of any openings or can provide a referral, I would truly appreciate your support!
