White Palace, Swat 🇵🇰 — Where Royal History Lives

Hidden in the lush green mountains of Swat, the White Palace (Sufaid Mahal) is more than just a beautiful building — it’s a living chapter of history. Built in 1941 by the first Wali of Swat, Miangul Abdul Wadud, this palace once served as the royal summer residence.

Over the years, it welcomed some of the world’s most important personalities. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip stayed here during their historic visit to Pakistan in 1961, after which she famously called Swat ‘The Switzerland of the East.’ Former President of Pakistan, Field Marshal Ayub Khan, also visited the palace, along with senior state officials and foreign dignitaries of that era.

Inside, the walls speak — through rare photographs, royal portraits, and preserved antiques like vintage clocks and memorabilia that reflect the lifestyle and diplomacy of the time. Even the entry token tells a story of preservation and respect for heritage.

Walking through the White Palace feels like stepping back into a royal past that still breathes quietly among the mountains.
