Anas Ansari Photographer and a Designer, waiting to get out of the prison called procrastination to do art.

I made this short documentary-style intro for NED last year. The goal was to create a video for new admissions, meant to be shown on orientation day at the main auditorium. It aimed to enlighten freshmen that NED is more than just academics and engineering—it fosters individual talent, extracurricular activities, and most importantly, art. I completely forgot to upload it last year, but I was honored to hear, that it was played again this year.

Big thanks to everyone who worked on this with me.

Also, the first three (sports) shots were provided by the Student Affairs. If anyone knows who shot them, please let me know so I can give proper credit.

Dear (someone I used to know),

I hope you remember that coffee we had, it's a weird way to start a letter, but...I was going through all this stuff in the attic when I found this old polaroid of that place we had just discovered that one night, when we were searching for that "one perfect spot", with a perfectly balanced light, and the "not so rush hour", a place that matched both our aesthetic senses.

What a day it was, we had finally found that one place, our place, I remember the satisfaction and relief on your face, that day, competing with the excitement in your heart, maybe that's why you said all those things that day. You were happy.

You ordered your coffee without sugar, I knew you didn't like it that way, but you knew I liked it that way. Maybe it was your way of showing me that you care, or maybe I misunderstood your urge to try something new for that.

I remember you saying, "I wish this day never ends". I thought you liked spending time with me, or maybe I misunderstood that too.

I saw you still kept that, diary I gave you back in the 6th grade. I thought you kept it to remember me when I'm not around, or maybe I misunderstood that, as you also hate to let things go, but you still let me go.

You know I went back to that cafe, several times, for a couple of years after that, but it was never the same as it was that day, it was never the same without you...

It's been almost 2 years since I took these pictures during a local protest against the mass murder of Muslim Palestinians. It's so sad to see that nothing has changed over the years. The oppressed are still being oppressed, children are still being killed, people are being dragged out of their homes and thrown right into their graves. They are helpless, yet they're still standing strong. Amidst everything that's going on, let's not forget that what's happening there is not a conflict, but a GENOCIDE! A planned scheme to wipe out the Muslims of Palestine one by one.

May Allah grant the oppressed Muslims victory in their cause of freedom. Ameen!

Never thought I'd post myself like this, but what is art, if not moving into domains far more remote than your own comfort zone.

Aren't we all troubled, haunted, possessed by the very thoughts we breed in our minds, and don't we all face the repercussions of the decisions made under the influence of the influx of multiple, maybe countless thoughts merging on each other, overlapping one over the other, one breeding the other, all that happening just in the matter of seconds, maybe this is what 'overthinking' is. Maybe in one way or the other, we are all victims of our own thoughts.

Never thought I'd fall in love with an event in NED this much, and be mesmerised by a play this much, these are a few highlights featuring a few cast members of "Anokhi Tasneef".
A cast that left quite more than a few dropped jaws in the audience.

ساحل پے کھڑے ہو تمہیں کیا غم چلے جانا

میں ڈوب رہا ہُوں ڈوبا تو نہیں ہُوں

Sajjad Ali sung these verses so good that they became imprinted in my head the moment I heard them, but as a child I never could get a grasp on what they actually meant.
Now years gone by, every time I hear these verses, I get what the poet meant to say here, it portrays the experience of a lover, friend, or someone who has been betrayed, it's about how one ruined oneself for the sake of the other, so that they could remain on the shore when one would go to the depths of the sea, and eventually drown for them. It shows how friendships, relationships and feelings can destroy one or both the parties involved if the energy, passion, excitement, priorities are not reciprocated.
