to be in this moment, witnessing this unfold 🙂 I couldn't help but feel privileged to have had this vantage point, where I could mirror their expressions in these frames

my placement in this spot wasn't planned - in fact I distinctly remember trying to make way for the folks lining up near this doorway, till the urgency of the moment halted all movement & I was confined to this nook behind the doorway. With some definitively divine help, this 'nook' became the hook through which I managed to make these photographs (I wonder who it could've been helping me up there 🤔 any guesses??? 😎)

this walk has always been a favourite part of mine in the events I've covered - for the keen observers it reveals so much; the nervy movements, the tentative coordination, the almost audible heartbeats... all capably wrapped up in their warm smiles 🙂

in every frame here, I can observe a few smiles that aren't visible in these photographs - if you're among the people who are 'in the know' then I'm positive you'll see them as well 🙏🏼

our walks are our time... here we talk mood swings, have some 'scent'ilating conversations, enjoy leaving our 'mark' on the world, no breakups to endure, but plenty of 'dump'ings do occur & most of all; we enjoy each other's wonderful company - mostly in silence

here's wishing you all such peaceful walks, always 🙏🏼

this adorable lil' guy is under the care of the Wildlife Management in Islamabad, Pakistan. He was rescued by their staff when his mother was killed by poachers... due to these circumstances & his extremely young age at the time of his rescue, he's not been able to fully develop functionality in his hindlimbs & thus is not able to walk freely

The staff of the Wildlife Management is doing an amazing job of looking after him & are pursuing the best treatment to aid him in his recovery. He can be visited under their supervision through the 'Farmer's Market Wildlife Tour' open to public on Saturday mornings (in Islamabad). I would encourage those with the intent to lend a helping hand, to pay him a visit & perhaps support his treatment - the staff at the premises can provide detailed guidance for those who wish to offer any assistance

The ones reading this didn't deprive him of the educational strolls he would've had with his mother, but perhaps some of them can assist him in walking freely towards maturity 🙏🏼

this is a moment to pause, to reflect, it is a time for gratitude...

this here is a meditation; for you to realize that peace & love are around you & you need to reach out to feel them intentionally - not just look back on a certain time in your life that you believe you experienced them; that time is now if you make it so

give thanks for the now... we keep connecting the dots while looking back, take a moment to realize that it is in the now, that you are in fact creating those dots as time ticks away

you are still here, you are breathing; now make it all intentional & be grateful for the present, for it is truly a gift - a gift we are not entitled to, but one we are blessed with

meditate on the present, contemplate your mortality, live life with intention & give thanks for the moments that come your way...

It's been 10 years since I made this photograph & it still firmly stands as one of my all time favourites 🙂 what a beautiful memory this makes for & holds layers upon layers of meaning - truly a gift 🙏🏼

ever seen the family of the complete man? well look no further 'cuz here it is 🙂

we men are nothing if not for the women in our lives - mother, sister, friend, wife, daughter - all help mould us through this strange thing called life & we in turn just want to ensure in one way or the other that they're looked after

for me this photograph is complete not because of the ladies who are in it but because of the man who's not...
he's there though, smiling through their laughters, winking through their expressions, celebrating through their joys & as much as I love everyone captured within this frame - I didn't shoot this for them - I photographed it for him... (may he forever rest in peace - Amen)

in the sincere pursuit of capturing moments that matter, one gets to discover that all moments matter

the quest then evolves into ensuring that the moment is framed via the correct light - as in not just through the levels of visible luminance, but letting the subject speak to the viewer through the play of light & shadows - to me; often shadows narrate much more eloquently than light, for they hold so much in; the depth, the meaning...

here I managed to frame this beautiful memory of a brother seeing off his sister at the time of her 'RukhSattee' (giving away of the bride by her family in the care of her groom) with this deliberate & potent induction of shadows - because I wanted to shed light on what he was holding in (by embedding it in shadows) - the stoic glare is enunciated through confined luminance, the stillness of the moment is punctuated via the diminished ambiance

he's exhibiting incredible resolve here, by staying as composed as he can in this powerful yet fleeting moment - and I am endorsing his choice to not reveal much, by lending him the cover of these shadows... the gravity of the moment is compounded by the bride's father holding back his loving tears in the backdrop

yes you can shoot this very scene with a flat light which illuminates all in the frame equivalently, but that would be documentation (& there's nothing wrong with that), this way of carefully painting this scene with light & shadows however; is what validates the sanctity of this moment... and this is how I choose to narrate my stories
