Today, we’re celebrating our Grade 8 Representative, Ciara Zaragoza! βœ¨πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ

Between school, training, and everything in between, you still manage to show up and give your best as a representative. You serve with so much dedication and consistency which shows that being busy doesn’t mean you can’t be dependable. 🫢

May this new chapter bring you more opportunities to grow, more memories to cherish, and more reasons to be proud of the person and leader you’re becoming.

Keep making waves wherever you go. Happiest birthday, Ciara! πŸ’™πŸ’›

A day late, but the council’s Vice President deserves the spotlight regardless. ✨

Happy belated birthday to the person whose steady leadership, strong work ethic, and unmistakable voice keep the council moving forward.

You walk into the room, and somehow, your presence just stays β€” setting the bar high and making sure the standards stay even higher. πŸ˜‰

May this new chapter bring you more moments to celebrate, and more opportunities to grow. Happy belated birthday, Janna! πŸŽ‚

From our textbooks, it is easy to recognize faces but out of identity, it is felt through our independence. Through different generations, history has taught us to never repeat it but also to remember the sacrifices that came with fighting for our name. Today, we don’t just recognize the silent battles and the great victories but we commemorate their courage to step up; not to be recognized but to inspire.

It is with great pride and honor that we celebrate the heroes we’ve known and the heroes kept within the shadows of independence. Some with swords and arrows, others with quilts and paper, yet the message remained the same. These faces aren’t limited to titles and glory, they carry the pain with dignity and grace because the greatest heroes do not come in golden picture frames, they come in stories that inspire generations.

From the heroes recognized to the heroes who weren’t, let us celebrate National Heroes Day with pride. Let it inspire you to remember that courage doesn’t demand perfection; it asks you to step up without recognition.

Almighty and merciful Father, Creator of all life, we come before You with grieving hearts, frightened by the violence that threatens our school, our children, and our very community.

The recent event has shaken us and reminded us of how fragile life can be. It has wounded the very purpose of what schools ought to be. Schools are built for education, for the formation of young people, and for the pursuit of a better society for the common good. Our school ought to be a sanctuary of learning, a place where every child feels safe enough to learn to become who You have called them to be.

Lord, we remember before You all those who have been affected. We especially lift the victims and their families. Hold them close in Your mercy. Comfort those who grieve, strengthen those who are hurting, and surround every family with people who will walk beside them in their sorrow.

Where anger and violence arise, touch the hearts of those who are lost in them. Heal what is wounded within them and lead them away from paths that harm others. May Your grace transform hearts before anger becomes violence, and may we learn to recognize the pain in one another before it becomes something destructive.

Guide our country's leaders, lawmakers, educators, parents, and citizens with wisdom and courage. Give them the strength to pursue justice and work toward a society where peace is not merely hoped for, but actively built. May justice lead not only to accountability, but also toward a reconciled world.

We may not understand why these things happen. We may not have answers for every question that weighs upon our hearts. We do not pretend to understand the pain, nor do we call the suffering good. But we trust that even in the darkest moments, You remain with us.

Help us to rebuild not only what has been shaken, but also our trust in one another. Make our school once againβ€”and alwaysβ€”a place where young people can learn without fear, grow with dignity, and encounter the love that You have called us to share.

Through your overwhelming love, Amen.

Learn to break the silence πŸŽ—οΈ

Today, on August 21, we commemorate the resistance built against violence; Ninoy Aquino Day. As we remember the courage of Former Philippine Senator Benigno β€œNinoy” Aquino, let us honor the Filipinos who struggled for justice and democracy. Their sacrifices were not forgotten, it broke the silence through the protests that grief brought.

As it becomes a bookmark of courage and freedom, let it be a reminder of community. Etched into history, a bookmark for something that must never be forgotten and never repeated. Choose to stand for something, for these people did not suffer for nothing. Freedom does not have colors, we must accept that to achieve it.

Never Forget, Never Again πŸͺ½

π—”π—©π—œπ—¦π—’ 𝗝𝗛𝗦 || THE 3Rs: REST, RECOVER, RECONNECT

To our dear parents and guardians of Ateneo de Zamboanga University Junior High School:

In light of the recent incident and the suspension of classes, we humbly ask for your continued support in safeguarding the well-being of our students. Your presence and guidance at home are especially important during this time.

With students spending more time at home and online, they may be exposed to content that glorifies violence or promotes other harmful behaviors. Those who may already be experiencing personal, emotional, or social concerns can be particularly vulnerable to the effects of prolonged or unsupervised online exposure.

We therefore encourage parents and guardians to remain attentive to significant changes in their children's behavior, emotions, relationships, and online activities. Take time to check in with them, listen without judgment, and create a safe space where they feel comfortable sharing what they are experiencing.

At the same time, we hope that this suspension of classes can be an opportunity for our students and their families to practice the 3Rs: REST, RECOVER, and RECONNECT.

π—₯π—˜π—¦π—§ β€” Give your child time to pause, recharge, and step away from the pressures of school and the online world.

π—₯π—˜π—–π—’π—©π—˜π—₯ β€” Allow time and space to process recent events, regulate emotions, and regain a sense of safety and stability.

π—₯π—˜π—–π—’π—‘π—‘π—˜π—–π—§ β€” Spend meaningful time together. Talk, eat meals together, engage in simple activities, or simply be present and willing to listen.

Your presence, guidance, and support can go a long way in helping our students feel safe, heard, and cared for. Let us continue to work together as a community to protect our students, strengthen our families, and help one another through this time.

Let this pause be a time to REST, RECOVER, and RECONNECT.
