On Monday, June 8, 2026, while students, parents, and faculty of Max Mirafuentes Academy were gathered at the school gymnasium for the orientation program, a powerful earthquake struck Mindanao at approximately 7:37 AM. The earthquake registered at magnitude 7.8, with its epicenter located off Sarangani, causing strong tremors to be felt across various parts of Mindanao, including Tagum City.

Despite the unexpected event, the school community remained calm and promptly followed safety protocols. Through the guidance of Sir Shekel and the coordinated efforts of the faculty and staff, students remained disciplined and cooperative throughout the evacuation process. Their composure and unity ensured that everyone was safely evacuated and accounted for.

As we move forward, let this serve as a reminder of the importance of preparedness, teamwork, and resilience during emergencies. We continue to pray for the safety and well-being of everyone affected by the earthquake.
