If it’s true that many in the Solid Bloc 13 (SB-13) Majority in the Senate of the Philippines led by Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano will be arrested by the Administration of Pres. B**gbong Marcos, it will cause serious gridlock in the legislative affairs of our nation.
Assuming that only four (e.g. Cayetano, Cayetano, Legarda and Marcos) of the current SB-13 Majority are left, it means there will only be 15 senators remaining in the Upper House. 16 votes are still needed to impeach Vice Pres. Inday Sara Duterte. Even if all four voted to impeach her, it will still be one vote less. She remains Vice President and any attempts to impeach her next year will go nowhere. It’s only this year or never.
With the current Minority of 11 senators setting a precedent of massive walk-out when things do not go their way in a democratic chamber, if and when they become the Majority of 11, what would stop the remaining four from not attending the plenary in protest of the perceived harassment of their nine colleagues? This will result to lack of quorum in the Chamber which will lead to legislative gridlock meaning no new legislations will pass from thereon. An unprecedented legislative crisis.
What is happening to our beloved country? Under this Administration, one crisis happens after another. From the current energy crisis to now legislative crisis and later food crisis, can the Filipino people please be given a break from all of these problems?
