🌴 NEW SPOT ALERT: Kaligan – Newest Stunning Escape! ✨
If you are looking for your next aesthetic hangout spot, look no further. KALIGAN, located along Manlurip Road, Brgy. Candahug, Palo, just had its soft opening yesterday, and it is already a must-visit!
From the moment you step up to the entrance, the architecture catches your eye. The main structure features a massive, sweeping native thatched roof canopy that elegantly arches over the space, beautifully paired with a striking textured stone accent wall displaying their logo: "Kaligan: Flavors of home"

🌿 The Ambience & Design
The design seamlessly blends modern tropical architecture with traditional Filipino elements.
The Outdoor Native Pavilions: The outdoor dining area is highly unique, covered by gorgeous, curved woven bamboo and amakan-style ceilings. It creates an incredibly airy, breezy tropical resort vibe, complete with stone paths, lush green plants, and woven native pendant lights hanging above the wooden dining sets.
The Indoor Space: Step inside, and you're greeted by expansive floor-to-ceiling glass windows that let in plenty of beautiful natural light. The interior ceiling showcases stunning wave-like woven fabric installations paired with sleek bamboo stick borders and modern black track lighting.
The Native Accents: Everywhere you look, there is incredible attention to detail—from the beautiful woven stair details to local touches like stacked large woven native baskets.

🍔 The Food
The presentation matches the aesthetic perfectly. We tried a spread that included a perfectly layered burger served with crisp, seasoned French fries and a side of savory, glazed buffalo wings. We also paired it with a rich, creamy mushroom and herb pasta topped with a generous dusting of parmesan cheese, alongside a refreshing, ice-cold citrus beverage. Sitting by the warm glow of their candle lit tables makes the dining experience feel incredibly cozy and premium.

📍 Quick Details to Note:
Location: Manlurip Road, Brgy. Candahug, Palo (Right by the roadside with convenient parking space available).
Current Status: Soft opening phase (just started yesterday!).
Tentative Operating Hours: 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM | Monday to Sunday.

Whether you're looking for a cozy dinner spot, a place to capture some stunning phone photography, or just want to unwind under a beautiful tropical canopy, KALIGAN is highly recommended. Catch them during their soft opening hours and experience it yourself!
Note: Since they are on tentative soft opening hours, make sure to drop by between 2 PM and 11 PM to check out the new space!

The “History Buff & Art Lover” (Detailed)
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Espazio Arts + History truly lives up to its name. I was blown away by the “History” side of the cafe—seeing the old photos of the Leyte Landing on vintage TV sets and the rows of antique memorabilia makes for a very nostalgic experience. The “Arts” are just as impressive, with colorful murals and galleries that brighten up the interior.

The outdoor garden area is a breath of fresh air, decorated with fairy lights and inspirational quotes that make you want to stay all afternoon. As for the menu, the drinks and food are delicious and definitely hit the spot. It’s rare to find a place that is this spacious yet feels so personal and curated. A must-visit landmark in Tacloban!

Pro-tip: When you post this on Google Maps or Facebook, definitely include that photo of the old Sanyo TV and the garden view—those are the “money shots” that will really draw people in!

🥤 Sweet Tooth Heaven at JIV Sweets atbp.

If you’re wandering along Magsaysay Boulevard in Tacloban City and craving a sugar fix, you have to stop by the JIV Sweets atbp. pop-up stall. Their signature Choco Milo Overload is exactly what the name suggests—absolute chocolate chaos in the best way possible!

The Drink: 🍫
It’s a thick, rich chocolate base layered with shaved ice and evaporated milk, then piled high with an incredible mix of:

• Crunchy Oreo bits
• Colorful mini marshmallows and a heart-shaped mallow topper
• Candy-coated chocolates
• Chocolate wafer sticks and cubes

It is very sweet and unapologetically indulgent. If you have a serious sweet tooth, this will be your new favorite obsession.

The Vibes: 🌊
The location is one of the best parts. Since they are right on the boulevard, you get a stunning view of the sea while you enjoy your drink. It’s the perfect spot to catch the breeze, watch the waves, and treat yourself.

0402 Coffee - Sto. NiĂąo Ext., Tacloban City
We visited 0402 Coffee Cafe yesterday since almost all the coffee shops in the downtown area were packed because of Valentine’s Day. Luckily, this café was a hidden gem — calm, quiet, and not crowded at all. If you’re looking for a peaceful place to unwind or have a meaningful conversation, this is definitely the spot.

The ambiance is warm and cozy, perfect for relaxing or even getting a little work done. The atmosphere feels intimate and welcoming, which made our visit even more enjoyable.

As for the food, their red velvet cheesecake was absolutely delicious — rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. Every bite was satisfying! I also tried their Spanish latte with cinnamon powder, and it was so good. The blend of espresso and creamy sweetness with a hint of cinnamon made it extra special and comforting.

Overall, we had a great experience. Good coffee, great dessert, relaxing ambiance, and a peaceful environment — what more could you ask for? Highly recommended if you want to escape the busy downtown crowd in Tacloban City. ☕✨
