Happy 141st ASOLC Foundation Day, dear sisters and friends! May this milestone bear witness to our shared vision and mission, our faithfulness to God's call to love God and neighbor, inspired by our foundress Venerable Mother Consuelo, and our unwavering commitment to making a difference in the world. LETTER OF MOTHER CONSUELO
April 1925
TO ALL THE SISTERS:
I send my affectionate greetings! I believe that everyone during these days is full of fervor and holy recollection, united with the sentiments of our holy Mother Church, and for the lectures and meditations which occupy us on the passion and death of our most loved Redeemer, the passionate Spouse of our souls. I hope we will not forget what Jesus did and how He suffered for love of each of us. It is true that every moment and everywhere, we see ourselves surrounded by the ardent love which Jesus professes for us, and which He had from eternity, which our sins have not diminished until the present. His major desire is to love us for all eternity. Let us respond, dear Sisters, by loving Him above all things more than any person, more than ourselves. Love is repaid by love. We can love Him. We should love Him because He commands us to. Let us love Him very much, but we will always be wanting. Let us ask Him humbly and with great confidence, love increasing love. He rejoices watching the sacrifices that we make for love of Him and our self-denials in order not to offend Him but to please Him. He knows because He alone sees our interior selves. Why can we not determine with great spirit and resolution to be better Religious, docile and obedient, mortified and penitent, meek and humble of heart, lovers of holy poverty and humiliations, seeing our beloved Jesus practising all these virtues, and everything else, to give us example? We should determine if we want later to rise with Him in glory. Let us live like Jesus in humility, in poverty and in complete subjection to the will of His Eternal Father and of His Superiors, representatives of the Celestial Father. He will take care of exalting and glorifying us. Let us be generous with God who deserves it. Let us have a big heart and will to serve Him because the time of labor is short but the reward is without end.
