With the recent concluded Mr. and Ms. UNP 2025, we would like to formally express our deep disappointment with the Production Team of the said event, most especially with the Director who had personally assured us that the video we created during the preliminary round would be showcased during the Finals.
When the Student Council first approached us to cover the Mr. and Ms. UNP event, we agreed without hesitation, as we genuinely wanted to contribute to the success of the pageant by providing a video highlight of the event. We edited the video from the preliminary round with urgency almost same-day editing because we wanted it to be posted immediately. This video was reviewed and approved by the SC.
Furthermore, we edited individual candidate videos upon the Directorโs request, a request made after the preliminary event, and again, we fulfilled it without hesitation. Later, we requested for the preliminary video to be posted before the Finals, but we were informed by the SC that the Director preferred to have it played during the Finals instead. During the Finals, which we also covered, we came with excitement and full expectations, believing that the video we had worked on, would finally be shown. From our understanding, it was meant to serve as a recap before the main event.
We waited patiently throughout the program. Various videos were played in between segments, and the sponsor video was repeatedly shown for extended periods. During these long gaps, particularly while tabulations were ongoing and candidates were off-stage, we thought there would be ample time to insert the preliminary video. We repeatedly asked the Director if our video would still be played, and we were continuously assured with a "yes." That gave us hope up until the very end. But then, the Q and A portion for the Top 8 concluded, and the winners were announced, and yet, the video was never shown.
We were even more dismayed to hear that the Director allegedly remarked, โNalpas lang garuden, anya pay mabalinan,โwhich, if true, is highly disrespectful to us as creatives.
We dedicated so much time and energy to this event. We canceled prior commitments just to prioritize this project. We did all of that for free, but all of that went to waste. We sincerely hope that whoever is accountable for this situation takes responsibility and that something like this never happens again.
