THE ABANDONED HOUSE – Tiaong, Quezon
Quinio–Recto Ancestral Home

Built in the early 1950s using wood and pieces taken from even older homes, this house once held the laughter, the footsteps, and the long nights of the Quinio-Recto family.
It was once warm, full of life, full of people passing through its rooms.

But in the 1970s, everything slowly changed.
One by one, the lights went out.
One by one, the doors closed.
And when the last family member left, the house simply stopped living.

Now it stands cracked and quiet, surrounded by vines, fallen leaves, and memories that refuse to fade. A home with no electricity, no caretakers, and no visitors. Just silence, and something that feels like it’s still listening.

She said that one night, while walking home, she glanced at the broken front window.
And inside, they saw a figure.
Not moving.
Just standing there, as if watching the outside world.

She knew no one lived there.
No one had the keys.
No one should be inside.

At first, she tried to ignore it, “Baka anino lang,” she thought.
But the figure stayed.
And stayed.

until she blinked.
At pagmulat nya, wala na.
As if it was never there.

Another neighbor shared something different.
At night, when everything is quiet, they sometimes hear sounds
Soft knocks, something being dragged, a loud bump from upstairs, kahit walang tao, at wala namang umaakyat.

Some nights it comes from the old kitchen.
Some nights from the hallway.
Some nights from the very top floor, the part no one has entered in decades.

It’s the kind of noise that makes you stop, listen, and wonder.

Is the house settling?
Is it the wind?
Or is it something the house still remembers?

Today, the Quinio-Recto House stands old but stubborn, like it refuses to leave the world.
A place full of echoes, secrets, and stories that were never closed properly.

But don’t worry, not every strange sound means something scary.
Sometimes old houses just make noise, and sometimes shadows are only shadows.

Still, when you pass by, you might feel something watching.
Or maybe it’s just history trying to say hello.

Kuya Reynel & Kuya Julius – Construction Workers of Lusacan

In a quiet corner of Barangay Lusacan, two men work side by side, Kuya Reynel and Kuya Julius. From morning until late afternoon, they stand under the changing weather: the heat of the sun, the heavy clouds, and sometimes even the rain.

They climb ladders, weld metal, carry heavy tools, and build something little by little. Their work may look simple to others, but every spark from their welding tells a story. The light from the metal is more than just fire, it is hope.

They do not build for themselves alone.
They build for their families.
For food on the table.
For children’s dreams.
For a better tomorrow.

The walls they put up today might become someone’s home.
The roofs they finish might shelter a whole family.
Their hands may be rough, but their purpose is firm.

They remind us that even the smallest spark of effort can build something strong and lasting.
Saludo, Kuya Reynel at Kuya Julius, sa lakas, tiyaga, at pag-asang inyong hinahasa bawat araw.

"A Heart That Stands in the Heat"
Everyday Life of a Tiaongin | Photo Exhibit

Mr. Charlie Nombrefia Beltran
Fire Officer & Chief of the Bureau of Fire Protection – Tiaong

When most of us run away from danger, one man and his team move toward it.

Chief Charlie Beltran wakes up every day not knowing what emergency will come, a house engulfed in flames, a life trapped in panic, or a small spark that could grow into tragedy. Behind the uniform we salute and the badge that shines is a man who has seen fear up close, heard cries for help, and carried the weight of decisions that could mean life or loss.

Yet through those moments, he chooses courage.

His role is not just to put out fires. His duty begins before tragedy even happens, training his team, educating the community, knocking on doors to remind families about safety, and preparing for disasters we pray never come. Leadership for him is not standing above others, but standing with them, shoulder to shoulder, ready to risk the same flames they face.

Some fires burn houses. Others burn hope.
Chief Beltran fights both.

He does not raise his voice to command respect; respect comes from how he serves, how he protects without hesitation, and how he stands firm when chaos tries to take over. He understands that true leadership is not having power, it is carrying responsibility with heart.

In moments of darkness, he is the calm.
In moments of fear, he brings clarity.
And when everything feels uncertain, he remains steady.

His greatest mission is simple, protect.
Not for praise, not for glory, but because every life saved matters.

Saludo! Salamat, Chief Beltran!
For the sacrifices we don’t always see,
for the bravery we sometimes forget to honor,
and for reminding us that real heroes do not just hold hoses, they hold the community together.
Tiaong is safer because you lead with courage, and serve with heart.

“Where Service Has No Price”
Everyday Life of a Tiaongin | Photo Exhibit

Meet Kuya Randy Ibanez, a man who stands on the road every day, not because it’s his duty, but because it’s his choice.

When people pass by Lusacan, they see a man in uniform lifting his hand to stop cars, waving them to move, smiling at children crossing the street. Some may think, “Trabaho niya ’yan.”
But the truth is something many would not even imagine:
Kuya Randy is a volunteer. He earns nothing from doing this.

His day starts not with an office clock, but with the sound of vehicles coming in.
He chooses to go outside, even when the rain pours.
He chooses to face the scorching sun, even when it stings his skin.
He chooses to guide strangers who don’t even know his name.
“Sa kalsadang puno ng ingay, tahimik siyang nagsisilbi. Hindi bayad ang hinahanap niya , kundi ang seguridad ng bawat isa"

While others rush to their jobs, he is already there,
ensuring students cross safely,
helping drivers avoid accidents,
keeping the road organized when chaos is just one wrong turn away.

No salary. No benefits. No promise of reward.
Just pure willingness to serve, the kind of service that is becoming rare in a world where almost everything demands a price.

And yet, he continues. Why?
Because he believes that even small acts matter.
That safety is worth protecting.
That community is worth serving.
That Tiaong is worth caring for.

Kuya Randy reminds us that heroism does not always wear medals.
Sometimes, it wears a simple vest, stands on the street,
and chooses to care even when nobody is paying.

Salamat, Kuya Randy!
Your service keeps Tiaong safe, and your heart keeps it human.

“The Woman Behind Words”
Everyday Life of a Tiaongin | Photo Exhibit

This is Ma’am Ana P. Ayangco a teacher, the Department Head of English at Lusacan National High School.
To most students, she is the teacher who checks their grammar, teaches them how to write, and reminds them to keep learning.
But beyond the lessons and papers, there is a woman who has spent years shaping voices, building confidence, and helping young minds find their own stories.

“Hindi lang siya nagtuturo ng wika, nagtuturo siya kung paano magsalita nang may tapang, at magsulat nang may puso.”

In her desk filled with books, laptops, drafts, and deadlines, she carries the quiet work of a leader. She guides teachers, encourages students, and continues to serve the community with patience and grace.

Her impact goes beyond classrooms.
Her words change lives, her guidance opens doors, and her dedication makes education possible for many.

This photo is a reminder that behind every good student, there is a teacher who believes first.
Salamat po, Ma’am Ana!
For every corrected paper, every lesson shared, and every voice you helped grow. ✨

"Where Heat Meets Heart"
Everyday Life of a Tiaongin | Photo Exhibit

Meet Kuya Arman Olivo, a chef whose passion burns as fiercely as the fire on his wok. Since 2018, he has devoted years of his life to the kitchen of La Barrida, working tirelessly, pushing through the heat, and embracing every challenge that comes with the job.

For him, cooking is more than a routine. It is a craft shaped by sweat, discipline, and love for the people he serves.
“Sa bawat lutong inuulan ng apoy, may pusong inuulan ng tiyaga.”
The flames he works with are not only for cooking, they reflect the commitment that fuels him each day.

La Barrida has become his second home, a place where he grows, earns, and shares joy through food. Behind every dish he prepares is a hope that customers will feel the warmth of home, the comfort of hard work, and the happiness of a chef who takes pride in feeding others.

This photo is not just an image of a man cooking under intense heat.
It is a reminder that the meals we enjoy come from hands that endure long hours, sweat, and fatigue, all for the simple goal of nourishing others.

To one of the silent flames keeping Tiaong’s kitchens alive.
Salamat, Kuya Arman!
You bring flavor to our plates and heart to our community.

“Behind the Colors of the Market”
Everyday Life of a Tiaongin | Photo Exhibit

She is Ate Beth, a vendor who has been selling vegetables for 15 years.
Long before the lights of the market touched these baskets of gulay, this stall belonged to her parents. And when they grew older, she chose to continue what they started, not because it was easy, but because it was for her family.

“Sa likod ng bawat paninda na nagiging pagkain sa mesa, ay may mga kwento na bumubuhay sa pag asa.”

Behind every measured price, every heavy basket lifted, and every early morning sale, there is someone choosing to stay, choosing to serve the community, and choosing to keep going even when the day is too tiring.

From mornings that start before sunrise to nights that end in tired silence, Ate Beth learned how to turn hard work into something better. Because of her dedication, she was able to help her family build a small sari sari store, buy a vehicle, and support her siblings education.

People see success now, but what they don’t see are the quiet sacrifices, the slow days with no earnings, the pain in the back and arms, the times she worked even when exhausted.

Yet, even with the struggles, Ate Beth remains kind. She stays fair to her customers, treats fellow vendors with respect, and still shares what she can even when sales are low.

This photo is not just a picture of vegetables with a seller.
It is a reminder that behind every stall is a story to tell, behind every vendor has a dream, and behind every emotion is a strength we don’t always see.

One of the hardworking vendor of Tiaong, Salamat, Ate beth!
You keep our homes fed and our community alive.

This quiet bridge in Tiaong has been a witness for decades, to goodbyes, reunions, and those moments we never meant to remember.

SAN AGUSTIN BRIDGE – Brgy. San Agustin, Tiaong, Quezon

People nearby say the bridge keeps memories of those who never reached the other side. Some jumped. Some slipped. Some were thrown. Some disappeared without a sound. And they believe their souls stayed here, the souls of those who never made it home, the victims of accidents, lost wanderers, and those who chose to end their journey here.

Locals hear footsteps on the bridge even when it’s empty, splashes in the river like someone is still trying to breathe, and a soft cry under the bridge when the wind suddenly stops.

“May humihingi ng tulong.
May naghahanap ng kasama.
May nagbabalik gabi gabi.”

Travelers passing late at night say they feel someone walking behind them, even if they’re alone. Some smell candles, like a funeral that never ended. Others see a figure standing in the middle of the bridge, not moving, not blinking, just watching.

Sabi nila, dito hindi ka mag iisa.
Kahit wala kang kasama, may sumusunod.

This old bridge does more than connect two towns.
It connects the living, and the lost.
