This was the time I went out alone to explore the streets of Salvador. I was excited to roam around and immerse myself with the Afro-Brazilian culture even for a little while. It was funny enough that I still got to communicate to a lot of locals despite my short knowledge of their language. Also, it was strange yet comforting to see something familiar that reminds me of home even though I’m far away from it. After seeing the daily hustle of the people, their happiness, kids jumping off bridges into river water and catholics celebrating feasts, it felt like I was in Manila.

This just reminds me that we may all differ from each other, but we still share the same home... this world.
