My favorite photos I took from Japan and why ⏬⏬
1. Walked into a thrift store and noticed this unique circular window. I waited for the perfect subject to enter the frame and got the shot.
2. While walking back to our Airbnb, a girl just got off school and was waiting for her dad on the other side of the train tracks. I slowed the shutter slightly to capture the train’s motion. I love the contrast between the girl’s umbrella and the train’s color palette.
3. This was shot when it was almost dark, but I cranked the ISO up. Super noisy and grainy, but I like it that way. The subject on the bike, looking up as he rode, makes me think he was enjoying every detail of his ride home.
4. As I was walking on a bridge, I noticed a group of school kids on what looked like a school activity/field trip. A boy decided to deviate and cross the rock bridge over the river. His friends joined him, only to be quickly yelled at by a teacher.
5. Slowed my shutter down to get that paint stroke effect. Maybe flowers look better in Japan, idk.
6. I wish we could normalize using umbrellas to block the sun, but sadly, that’s just not a thing here.
7. DOTONBORI
8. I love the way you can see both the man in the train and the man outside the train through the window.
9. Pastel colors and peep the Dachshund
10. Kyoto’s busy shopping streets
11. Shutter drag moment
12. Raining, cinematic, main character moment
