At the season finale of a science-fiction teen drama I was, then, not exactly attached to, I learned of an idea that I have chosen to keep in mind and heart since. It was a simple 4 word mindset that carried a multitude of meanings, heavy enough to ground one’s ego but also strong enough to guide one’s spirit in times of sorrow.
“Regression to the means.”
“No matter how bad things get or how good, it will always go back to the middle.”
This mindset had been my rock through this year of so many unexpected downfalls.
I had to leave a job I thought I wanted to be in. Found another one that did not align with any of the things I valued. So again, I left.
Made a lot of plans and goals I wanted to realize this year but was not able to completely follow through.
And then I got into an accident. One that left me a frame of who I once was. Mostly in body but also somewhat in mind.
However, on the last day of this year, I have come to realize that the universe is graciously balancing these lows with highs I really value.
I finally found a job that challenges my mind and teaches me a completely new way of doing things. One that is also completely aligned with my passion for Photography.
I have found partners in business whose minds and skills I hold at such high regard. Every conversation is backed up with facts and sound instincts.
And from the accident, I learned the following:
1. No more biking when intoxicated
2. The people you keep in life are those that will keep you living.
3. Love and prayers, though intangible and immeasurable, are the most powerful thing we can give in this world :)
All it really takes for you to recognize your life’s means is not to take each success as the new standard and not to see each failure as the defining conclusion. In the soothing and soulful words of Daniel Ceasar, “Its never over, until life ends.” Live in the beautiful and also the desperate moments. But also watch those moments knit themselves through time, slowly forming an imperfect yet captivating, irreplicable masterpiece.
While I carry your love and prayers inside me, the journey continues:) Thank you and Thank You ❤️
