AUGUST 17| MEMORIAL OF ST. CLARE OF MONTEFALCO

O God, you wished to exalt Saint Clare of the Cross by imprinting on her life and on her heart the signs of the Passion of our Lord, so that she could serve as a model of faith and of charity for her fellowmen. Through her intercession, grant also to us a living devotion to the Cross of Jesus so that we, too, may become, by means of our faith and good works, humble co-workers of the Divine Redeemer in the salvation of the world.

Amen.

Amen!

San Roque, pintakasi laban sa sakit at salot, ipanalangin mo kami!

PRAYER TO ST. TARCISIUS OF ROME

O God, You have graciously called me to serve You upon Your altar. Grant me the graces that I need to serve You faithfully and wholeheartedly. Grant too that while serving You, may I follow the example of St. Tarcisius, who died protecting the Eucharist, and walk the same path that led him to Heaven. St. Tarcisius, pray for me and for all servers.

Amen.

O Blessed Virgin Mary, assumed body and soul into heavenly glory, intercede for us before your Son.

Help us live in faith and hope so that we may share in the joy of heaven.

Amen.

On August 15, the Church celebrates one of the greatest Marian feasts, the Assumption of Mary into heaven, body and soul. This mystery, proclaimed as dogma by Pope Pius XII in 1950, affirms that the Mother of God, preserved from sin, was granted the fullness of redemption and taken into eternal glory.

The Assumption has been honored since the 5th century, known in the East as the Dormition, and later embraced universally as a sign of hope for all believers. The liturgy recalls the vision of the woman clothed with the sun (Revelation 12) and Mary’s own hymn of praise, the Magnificat, reminding us that her humility was exalted by God.

For the faithful, Mary’s Assumption is more than a historical belief, it is a promise of resurrection, showing that our bodies, like hers, are destined for glory. She stands as a sign of sure hope and comfort, pointing us toward the eternal life Christ has prepared for His people.

In giving birth you kept your virginity; in your dormition you did not leave the world, O Mother of God, but were joined to the Source of Life. You conceived the Living God and, by your prayers, will deliver our souls from death. Live Jesus in our hearts. Forever.

Amen.
