A Closing, Not an Ending
I'm not going to dress this up. This is a loss, and it's a really hard pill to swallow.
But I've been here long enough to know that endings aren't the same as failures. A door closing doesn't always mean you did something wrong. Sometimes it's just the shape of a life. A transition. The way even the most beautiful chapters have to turn their last page eventually.
I gave this place my service. I grew here. I loved this work and this institution. And the chapter ends not with a celebration, not by my own choosing, but it ends all the same.
I'm leaving Laguna University with everything it gave me: the values I developed, the discipline I built, the warmth of this place, and the irreplaceable joy that my colleagues and students brought into my days.
I'll leave with gratitude, even through the grief.
I'll leave with love for this institution, even in my disappointment.
And I'll leave knowing that what I did here was real, was good, and was worth every single day I gave to it.
The students I taught and the colleagues I worked alongside will carry something of me into their futures. And wherever I go next, I'll carry something of them, and of this place, into mine.
It has been a journey.
What a journey it has been.
