The Municipality of Moalboal recorded a danger-level heat index of 45ยฐC at around 2:00 PM on April 26, 2026, significantly increasing the risk of heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and possible heat stroke with prolonged exposure. In view of the extreme heat, Mayor Inocentes Cabaron has called on all residents and visitors to take the situation seriously and to strictly follow health and safety advisories issued by the local government.
Mayor Cabaron strongly advises Moalboalanons to stay indoors during peak heat hours, especially from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities. He also reminds the public to drink plenty of water, wear light clothing, and regularly check on children, senior citizens, and outdoor workers who are more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses. Barangays, schools, resorts, and workplaces are likewise encouraged to provide shaded or cooled areas and ensure the availability of clean drinking water for everyone under their care.
The Local Government Unit of Moalboal, through its Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and Municipal Health Office (MHO), continues to monitor heat index levels and coordinate with concerned agencies for necessary advisories and response. Mayor Cabaron appeals for the communityโs cooperation and vigilance, emphasizing that simple preventive measures can save lives during periods of extreme heat. Residents are urged to stay updated through official LGU announcements and to immediately seek medical help at the nearest health facility if signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke appear.
