What a day.

Woke up at 4:00 AM to a breathtaking, rainy sunrise, flew to Manila with zero sleep, and just touched down back in Cebu at 9:00 PM. Every single mile was worth it.

I am profoundly grateful to receive an Honorable Mention at the Supreme Court PH 125th Anniversary Photo Contest for my photo essay, "Keeper of the Wetlands." Centered around the theme of Accessible Justice, this essay tells the story of a community living in the wetlands of Mandaue City, focusing on a woman I met last year, Nanay Neda. Her life is a quiet but fierce struggle caught in the exhausting space between imminent home displacement due to land ownership issues, and the daily grind of supporting her family by harvesting ornamental fish.

To me, accessible justice means ensuring voices like Nanay Neda's are not pushed to the margins or left invisible in the shadows of legal disputes. Having the highest court in the land recognize her story is a humbling reminder of why we do this work.

Thank you to everyone who has supported my journey in visual storytelling. I'm already back in Cebu with an incredibly full heart. 🐟🌧️🇵🇭

Can we normalize shaming people who blatantly steal your photos for their own page engagement?

I'm so sick and tired of these content creators with a huge following who pick on small-time photographers like me. You literally have 20k followers on facebook and you're picking on someone who barely has 900.

I don't have nothing against photographers who clout chase, but please have some decency to CREATE YOUR OWN PHOTOS, MM Photography.

Edit: The specific post with my photos has now been deleted. But let this serve as a reminder that it's NEVER OKAY to grab photos that are not ours. As fellow photographers, let us never tolerate these kinds of actions. :)
