MANILA, Philippines โ A new chapter in Philippine basketball is about to unfold as the Abra Solid North Weavers become the first-ever MPBL team to compete in the East Asia Super League (EASL).
The reigning Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League champions will represent the MPBL in the 2026โ27 EASL season, marking a historic step for the young franchise and the league founded by Manny Pacquiao. (South China Morning Post)
Abra joined the MPBL in 2024 and quickly emerged as one of the leagueโs strongest teams, capturing the championship in only its second season. The Weavers have continued their strong form in 2026, highlighted by a nine-game winning streak earlier in the season. (Spin.ph)
