Why we’re saying goodbye to Quirky Creatives by Noel Salazar.
Question: Did the COVID-19 pandemic change you?
We sure got changed - that’s why we’re saying farewell to Quirky Creatives and forming a brand new, er, brand.
One that has a different identity.
But the question remains, why are we bothering to change? Why not just continue with the Quirky Creatives name, which has already been established in 2013, especially if you’re going back to weddings anyway?
When the pandemic hit, obviously, weddings and events disappeared. And that gave us plenty of time to think about what we truly valued and how we were living our lives.
And we came to the conclusion that the whole brand?
It was actually pretty self-centered and selfish.
It was about… well, about us. How we think differently, and how creative we are.
It was about how we would pretty much place our identity on the story of your special day.
We failed to see how we could help you instead to have the best and most authentic moments of your wedding.
And as we spent more time at home with our son, we also realized that time was so fast and fleeting.
That one day, he would no longer be a baby, would no longer be as attached to us as he is now, and all we would have of those days are our memories, and our pictures.
And we came to realize that as we lost people special to us during the pandemic, we went back to the idea of why we were doing wedding photography in the first place.
While we were searching for pictures of those who left us, we realized that we were photographing for the most basic thing: the preservation of those special moments and memories.
When we reminisce moments, we look for people, we look for memories. And it’s not necessarily those nice, manicured moments where we are gorgeous and perfect (although it would be nice to see us looking all good too!).
It’s those moments where everything was just so authentic, with people laughing, smiling, doing crazy things.
It’s the moments where people are crying as something so large and significant happens, and they’re truly touched.
And those are the times that we feel need to be truly immortalized - those quiet moments of couples just being with each other and being themselves.
Those times when even awkward and introverted couples can feel comfortable in front of the cameras because they were celebrating their union with the people they loved the most.
Just those HUGELY SIGNIFICANT MOMENTS IN TIME.
And that’s why we wanted something new: a revamp of what we were doing before. We’d still be doing more than just pressing the shutter of our cameras, but this time we promise this:
It will be less of us, and more of you.
We serve at your pleasure, not of our artistic visions or because WE THINK you are a certain way.
If you’re not the same as the countless weddings you see on the Internet, let us tell you something:
IT’S PERFECTLY OKAY!
Whoever you are, we welcome you.
We will embrace you.
This awesome love story that you have, that the two of you crafted, where you have authentic, honest moments that only you and your partner would do…
Just leave it for us to simply capture, and for you to share with the rest of the world.
And we promise: when you look back at these photos, years later, you won’t remember us capturing them. But these photos?
THEY WILL PERFECTLY REPRESENT YOU AND YOUR LOVE STORY ON THAT DAY.
If this whole post resonates with you, then thank you. We would love to hear from you and discuss your wedding day, and how we can mix our newfound realizations in photographing weddings with your love of the important things in your lives… and with each other.
Until then, see you on our new page: Heartcrafted Stories!
