Every farmer has a story that deserves to be heard. Through film, more people get to see the work, struggles, and small victories behind the food on our tables.
Harayen Academy celebrates the student filmmakers who brought these stories to the screen during the PelikulAgraryo Regional Film Festival Pre Screening and Judging, organized by DAR Region XII in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.
Eight entries highlighted the lives of agrarian reform beneficiaries and their organizations. The films came from Mindanao State University General Santos, Sultan Kudarat State University, South East Asian Institute of Technology, and Cronasia Foundation College.
The judging panel included DAR XII Regional Director Mariannie S. Lauban-Baunto, filmmaker Teng Mangansakan, and filmmaker Yen Morales.
For us at Harayen, this is part of what makes filmmaking meaningful. It starts with listening, getting to know people, and taking care in how their stories are told.
Congratulations to everyone who worked on these films, and to DAR Region XII for creating space for farmers’ voices. These are stories worth sharing.🥳
