Officially, my very first pickleball photography gig.
I had the privilege of covering the opening day of Edged Performance Pickleball Courts in Bacolod City, and I honestly had an amazing time.
It may have only been an Open Play Day, but you wouldn't know it by the way everyone competed. Every point was earned, every rally was fought for, and it didn't take long to realize that the Bacolod pickleball community is competitive through and through.
As a sports photographer, there's something special about discovering a new sport and a new community to document. Somewhere between the fast-paced rallies, the celebrations, and the energy on the courts, I think I caught the pickleball bug myself.
Here are a few images from today's opening festivities.
Tomorrow, I'll be heading back home to Iloilo City, but I'm bringing this newfound pickleball bug with me.
Could this be the start of covering more pickleball tournaments and events? (Message me? Hehe he)
We'll see.
Before I wrap this up, I just want to say thank you.
To Cassey Hinlo, thank you for picking me up at the pier this morning and for the wonderful brunch. I truly appreciate the warm welcome.
To Mr. and Mrs. Edged, Jaz and Ericka, thank you for not giving up on making this Bacolod trip happen. Your persistence, kindness, and trust meant a lot to me, and I'm really glad everything worked out.
And to the entire Edged Performance Pickleball Courts Bacolod crew, thank you for making me feel so welcome. It was such a pleasure meeting all of you, and I sincerely hope this won't be the last time we work together.
Wishing Edged Performance Pickleball Courts nothing but success. Congratulations once again on your grand opening, and best of luck on this exciting new journey!
Until next time, Bacolod.
