𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗 | SDO Himamaylan City Reclaims the Babaylan Spirit during NMWC Kick Off Program

HIMAMAYLAN CITY, March 2, 2026 - The Schools Division Office of Himamaylan City officially launched the 2026 National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) today, March 2, 2026, at the SDO Ground, through its Gender and Development Focal Point System (GAD FPS) and National Employees Union (NEU).

The morning program, filled with energy and purpose, was capably hosted by our very own Sir Mark Lloyd Coloma (Division GAD Focal) and Sir Francis Drake Tamba (Division GAD Secretariat).

This year's observance centers on the recurring theme "WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society," with the powerful 2026 sub-theme: “Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!”.

The celebration honors the leadership of the Babaylans—women of our pre-colonial past who led with wisdom, empathy, and moral guidance.

The grounds came alive during the Juana Dance and Saulog-Sayaw (Zumba Fitness) session, led by our dynamic Zumba Fitness Focals: Ma'am Helen Grace Poderoso, Ma'am Carmela Gamboa, Ma'am Adelfa Aileen Laureno, and Ma'am Rosette Laruza

In her inspiring message, Dr. Lynee A. Peñaflor, OIC-Schools Division Superintendent, emphasized the vital role of every employee in fostering safe, respectful, and empowering environments for the 68% of our division workforce who are women.

The program also featured a moment of Workplace Spirituality led by Ma’am Jessica E. Castrillo, Education Program Supervisor, who provided moral guidance for SDO personnel.

A highlight of the kick-off was the historic presentation and reading of the three modern symbolism of the Babaylan by our Division GAD Focal, Mark Lloyd M. Coloma. He eloquently reminded us that the spirit of the Babaylan lives on today.

The kick-off reached its peak with a historic and symbolic Human NWM formation on the SDO grounds with drone shots by SDO ITO Team, Sir Christian Bern Libo-on, Chris Ferndandez, and Joshua Andrew Castrillo.

This visual representation of unity was brought to life with flags prepared through the joint efforts of the GAD FPS and NEU, serving as a reminder that gender equality is a movement we carry forward together.

Let us continue to lead with the heart and spirit of the Babaylan! 💜
