The Camera Club of Davao proudly celebrates the remarkable achievements of our members in the Hulagway sa Araw ng Dabaw 2026 Photo Contest.

Leading the honors, Jerome Batain secured 1st Place with “Colors in Motion”, while Excelso Hiponia earned 2nd Place with “Graceful Motion in Harmony”—a testament to their exceptional vision and mastery of storytelling through imagery.

Equally commendable are the Special Distinction Awards, highlighting the depth of talent within our club. Excelso Hiponia, Jr. further distinguished himself with two additional recognized works, “Empowered Dabawenya” and “Restored Rhythm”, showcasing both consistency and creative range. Jerome Batain also added to his accolades with “Wind of Progress”, while Niño Russ Ell (Ian Russell Requiso) was recognized for “Grace in Every Motion”.

These achievements reflect not only individual excellence but also the shared passion and dedication that define the Camera Club of Davao. We are immensely proud of our members for continuing to elevate the art of photography and for representing our community with distinction.

From nearly 200 photographs of 20 candidates, the journey to selecting our CCD Ms. Photogenic was anything but simple.

Behind the final result is a rigorous, multi-stage evaluation conducted by members of the Camera Club of Davao—proudly the city’s longest-running photography organization with 43 years of excellence. Each image was carefully reviewed, shortlisted, and judged through a structured process that balanced impact, visual quality, and technical ex*****on.

What emerged was not just a winning photo, but a collective decision shaped by experience, discipline, and a shared commitment to photographic standards.

This is more than a title—it is the result of an exhaustive and credible selection process, where every frame was given its due, and only the most compelling image rose to the top.

We mourn the passing of one of our own, a cherished member of our photography community.

A gifted tour photographer and guide, he had a rare eye for beauty, capturing breathtaking destinations and showcasing hidden gems in Mindanao. Beyond his images, he was the life of the party: funny, generous with laughter, and someone who could instantly lift the mood of any room.

Diligent and hardworking, he lived a life of service; as a volunteer fireman, a mountaineer, and a person who never hesitated to help others. His passion, courage, and kindness left an imprint far greater than any photograph.

He will be deeply missed, but his stories, his laughter, and the places he shared with us will live on. Our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
