𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐓𝐀𝐏𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐘
By Mark Poul Capito
While the center stage roared with music and performances, a quieter scene unfolded at the back of the venue, equally powerful, yet far from the spotlight.
There, seated on monoblock chairs in a loose circle, young leaders from 11 ethnolinguistic groups gathered in spirited conversation. Representing communities such as Bagobo Klata, Bagobo Tagabawa, Obu Manuvu, Matigsalog, Ata, Tausug, Sama, Iranun, Maguindanaoan, Maranao, and Kagan, they laughed, shared stories, and built friendships across cultural lines.
Their gathering wasn’t formal, but it radiated purpose. In a space often overlooked, they modeled inclusion, respect, and unity living out the essence of SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities. Many of them come from communities that are often left out of national conversations. But in this shared moment, they listened to one another, found common ground, and built friendships across cultures.
Far from the stage, they became quiet examples of leadership, proof that sometimes the most meaningful moments happen at the margins, where young hearts come together to weave something greater, weaving a thread of one tapestry.
