Earlier,Bornok Mangosong and I had the chance to visit Rene Baterbonias wake. We also had a very very brief moment with his mom before they headed back for the afternoon Mass, but we feel truly fortunate to have met her.

We were also deeply touched to learn that ADDU will be granting scholarships to all of Rene’s siblings. In a way, one of Rene’s dreams has come true. While no scholarship can ever replace the loss of a son, brother, and friend, it is comforting to know that his dreams and love for his family will continue to live on.

Rene’s life story will always be remembered.🤍

The video of his last hug with his mom at the airport broke my heart. 💔 Watching it now, knowing it would be their final embrace, is almost impossible to bear. As a mother, it brought me to tears. My heart aches for his mom, dad, siblings, teammates, and everyone who loved him. May they find strength in this unimaginable loss, and may he rest in peace. My deepest condolences 💐

For 2 years, araw-araw tayong magkasama. Five days of practice, two days of games or minsan seven days of practice straight. Ganyan tayo magtrabaho sa Ateneo de Davao para maabot ang mga pangarap natin.

Araw-araw kitang kasama, Rene. Araw-araw.

Masakit para sa akin nang umalis ka papuntang Manila para tuparin ang pangarap mo, dahil alam kong hindi na kita makikita araw araw. Pero hindi ko akalaing mas masakit pa pala ang realidad na ito na habang buhay na kitang hindi makikita.

Marami tayong pinagdaanan. Maraming pawis, sakripisyo, saya, at pangarap na pinagsaluhan. Salamat sa lahat ng alaala, kapatid.

Mahal na mahal ka namin. Hindi ka namin makakalimutan.

Congratulations kuya Kyro Mangosong on bringing home 3rd Place in yesterday’s race! 🏆 by God’s grace you stayed safe, kept your composure, and finished strong without crashing.

A huge thank you to your dad Bornok Mangosong for being there at the race and for supporting you every step of the way. Special thanks as well to your grandfather RAM, whose support means so much too. Thank you also to Dexter, Dylan, Rhon, and Bea for taking care of Kyro and assisting him while we couldn’t be there. And most of all, thank You, Lord God, for this opportunity to allow our son to race and pursue what he loves. Thank You for Your protection, guidance, and for keeping him safe at all times. We pray that You continue to bless everyone who has supported our family throughout this journey.

Every race is a blessing, every lesson is part of the journey, and every finish line is a reminder of how far you’ve come. We love you, Kyro. Keep chasing your dreams! ❤️
