One small change we’re making as parents: No short-form videos, shift to intentional screen time. ❤️
We’re teaching Mattheo to move away from endless scrolling and fast-paced reels. Instead, he has limited screen time with age-appropriate TV shows and movies on Netflix that we can watch together.
Research suggests that constant exposure to rapid, highly stimulating short-form content can make it harder for young children to practice sustained attention, patience, and self-regulation. Longer-form shows and movies encourage following a story, understanding emotions, remembering details, and staying engaged with one narrative, skills that support healthy cognitive and language development.
It also reminds us of our own childhood. Nanay and Tatay grew up with TV, outdoor play, books, and imagination. TV was enough.
We’re not raising Theo to avoid technology, we’re teaching him to use it with purpose, balance, and healthy limits.
Because the goal isn’t less technology. It’s more organic childhood experience. 🌱📺❤️
