Gjirokastër – Cold War tunnel :
Visited a Cold War-era underground bunker — built for military command during missile strikes. Civilians couldn’t hide here. Even visiting felt claustrophobic. Can’t imagine surviving months underground. 😰
Berat Castle:
Free castle with actual residents still living inside. 🏰
Wandered stone alleys between ancient houses — felt like stepping through time. Bigger than expected, completely untouched.
Berat – “City of 1,000 Windows”:
Thousands of identical white-stone windows = pure aesthetic perfection.
Found a riverside restaurant. Husband raved about the local bread with yogurt sauce — says his own cooking doesn’t compare. Chef smiled, called it a “secret recipe.”
Tastes cleaner than Greek food. 😋
The Mosque Minaret:
Saw the most glittering minaret at sunset — sparkling against pink skies. Pure magic. ✨🕌
Berat Castle
