The 2026 Ormoc RallyX marked a new chapter for Khalil Alquilos and the Gagoo Racing Toyota Corolla. Now equipped with Toyota's masterpiece — the turbocharged 1NZ-FE — the car arrived with more potential than ever, ready to take on the challenges of rally competition.
As with any rally race, nothing is guaranteed. Success comes down to precision driving, timing, and adapting to constantly changing conditions. The opening stages brought heavy rain, turning the course into a muddy, low-grip battlefield. Despite the difficult conditions and less-than-ideal timing, Khalil pushed through and steadily worked his way up the timesheets while battling the slippery surface and ever-changing grip levels.
When the final stage arrived and conditions began to favor a more committed attack, Khalil delivered. Showcasing his magnificent driving skills and years of rally experience, he extracted everything the Gagoo Racing Corolla had to offer. He set the fastest time among all 2WD entries and even matched or outpaced several AWD competitors, proving that when Khalil finds his rhythm and the conditions come together, he is capable of taking the fight to anyone on the field. The turbocharged 1NZ-FE-powered Corolla showed tremendous potential, but it was Khalil's precision, commitment, and confidence behind the wheel that turned that potential into results.
Overall, it was a race weekend to remember and another strong step forward for both Khalil and the ever-evolving Gagoo Racing Corolla. The pace was there, the potential was evident, and the future looks bright for this combination. We can't wait to see what Khalil and the Corolla will bring to the next RallyX event.
Also sharing driving duties during the race weekend was Rex Abrenilla of Ubec Mags — a Vios Cup driver and proven winner in Philippine motorsports.
