Happy 45th Founding Anniversary, Municipality of General Mariano Alvarez! 🎉

Today, March 14, marks the founding anniversary of the Municipality of General Mariano Alvarez (GMA). Did you know that the town was once part of Carmona before it became a separate municipality?

For many years, the area was under the jurisdiction of Carmona, sharing its history and development before eventually establishing its own local government.

In 1981, a plebiscite was conducted to determine whether the Carmona Resettlement Project — covering the barangays of San Jose, San Gabriel, and portions of Cabilang Baybay — would separate from the Municipality of Carmona. The majority voted in favor, leading to the creation of what is now the Municipality of General Mariano Alvarez (GMA).

That historic decision reshaped boundaries, governance, and community identity — influencing the growth and direction of both Carmona and GMA for decades to come.

Now, imagine if that same plebiscite were held today, considering the present population, development, and progress of our city.

Situated along Governor’s Drive in the upland area of Barangay Mabuhay, First Global Technopark is a 5-hectare mixed-use development that began in 2019. Developed by First Global Conglomerates Inc., the project stands roughly 130 meters above sea level, the area boasts a unique atmosphere with expansive open spaces, a pleasantly cooler climate, and stunning panoramic views.

Now open to the public, the technopark has become a notable destination for visitors seeking scenic viewpoints within the city. Its elevated location provides a clear and unobstructed view of the Metro Manila skyline, especially on clear days, along with one of the most impressive sunset views in Carmona. Adding to its prominence, the site will host Carmona Garden Suites—the city’s first international hotel—slated to open in 4Q 2028.

Within the technopark itself stands one of Carmona’s tallest freestanding lattice tower, a symbol of the city’s growth and its rising status as a hub for tourism, leisure, and hospitality.

Nearly three decades later, Governor’s Drive has evolved into one of the city’s major economic corridors, reflecting the remarkable transformation of Carmona from a quiet municipality into a progressive and thriving city. This glimpse into the past reminds us how far we have come and how strategic infrastructure has played a key role in shaping the community we see today.
