I was in the middle of my lunch when a fellow birder tapped me and whispered "Male Narci nasa boardwalk", still hasn't lifered the male Narcissus Flycatcher so I immediately covered my meal and rushed to get my bike and drove to the other side of the park.
When we got there, we scanned the area for the Flycatcher. No signs of the Narci, but fate has other plans. Some fellow birders told us that a Northern Boobook has been spotted in the same area. We immediately pointed our binoculars at the spot, and behold, a majestic Hawk Owl was resting atop of the mangroves.
I walked around to find an open shot and a stable support since I didn't have my tripod at the moment.
Lucky for me, I found an open shot where I can put the lens on the guard rail.
I waited for a while until I saw a slight movement, seconds after, the owl started stretching, I clicked my shutter indiscriminately hoping I could get a sharp photo despite the dark setting.
Still haven't seen the male narci that day (we lifered it the next day tho ๐ฅน) fortunately, I got a decent shot the owl stretching its wings and tail feathers.
Which is personally a much better compensation.
